We are having roast beef as a main and probably profiteroles for dessert, but I'm stuck on the starter. We are getting married in August so I don't want soup (also knowing me I will end up with it down my dress!) and I know a few of the guests don't like seafood, so that's out. I know I can't please everyone , I just want something nice!
What are you all having? Any ideas will be muchly appreciated!

Were also having beef and profiteroles, But skiping the starters as we couldnt come up with something else we liked! Soup was the choices and thought the same as you augh dress. Has you venue got much choice for the starters? x

I think we got luck with our venue as we can choose 3 starters and 3 main course to offer are guests as long as we can tell them how many and where each dish is to go head of time. so we are having Tomatoe and basil soup, King prawns in sweet chilly drizzle and fan of melon with i think its rasberry colis.
What are the options that your venue has given you ?

Melon, pâté, goats cheese and tomato tart, lots of different soups, smoked salmon roulade, potted shrimp cocktail, mushroom risotto with truffle foam
So quite a decent choice, I can't make up my mind. Also, we can come up with our own and they will do it for us if possible...
I wish we could have more than one choice, but we just get the one. This was the same for all the ones we looked at, it would be so much easier!

We are having beef too, and our dessert is white chocolate cheesecake with butterscotch sauce..... Our starter is stilton and spinach tartlet served on a bed of mixed leaves, drizzled with balsamic vinegar. I personally dont like meat starters because it makes me too full, then I tend to leave my main.
If i had to choose it would be melon or goats cheese and tomato tart x

If it was me I'd go for the melon. You have a good choice though.
CommentAuthorKarenB9
I would go for the melon as you all ready said you dont want soup or a fish dish, most people like fruit and its light and refreshing on a hot summers day x
CommentAuthorLauraJo87
Yes, I think I will go for the melon. RaggedyAnne your dessert is making my mouth water!
I might see if I can taste the goats cheese tart though, I don't know how strong it will be?

I think we will be going for a soup that caters for vegetarians as that makes it easy for everyone.

Ooh that sounds nice.
I might ask if we can have a choice for the starter if we have a soup. I love the idea of a prawn and crayfish cocktail, and surely soup is easy enough to do...they have a restaurant on site so will have soup for that, too.
Then the people who don't like fish can have tomato and basil soup.
I know they normally only do one...but it might be an option? Oh well, can only ask!

Steffie - Ohhhhh Prawn tempura. Have you had a taster of it? I love tempura, but only tend to eat it at Japanese restaurants

we got round it by using the tomato soup as the veggie option as that is free so those who don't want the fish could have the veggie option instead
