As I'm not in contact with my father I'm having a bit of a dilemma with who to walk me down the aisle and do all the additional duties! I originally thought of walking down on my own or just with my little boy, but I'm not brilliant at being the centre of attention, and knowing me I'd get all flustered, go all red and fall over or something! My aunt and my brother have both put their names forward via the family grapevine, but I'm not sure who would be best! I'm a lot closer to my aunt, who is more like my mum really, but my mother seems to think my brother is the automatic choice, and that it would be really offensive not to ask him. I get on fine with my brother but we arent particularly close, and I know he wouldnt be able to pay for anything like suit hire - his girlfriend is already one of my bridesmaids and its looking like I will have to stump up for her dress, and they have three sons who are down for pageboy duties so the budget is already stretched! What would you ladies do?

Oopsie. I think you know in your heart who is right for the job so go with your heart and not what other people think.

I dont really get on with my mum, she would probably refuse if I did ask her and to be quite frank she doesnt deserve the honour of it anyway! lol x

I don't have anything to do with my family so it made it easy to choose a good friend.

im not having anyone, partly because of this problem. im just going to have a pic of my dad attatched to by bouquet and say hes walking me down the isle. to save arguments. I get thats not really something you can do, but were you close/are you close to his parents?

My mum's doing it. She thought my brother should give me away too but if you think about what it symbolises then the only person who was 'qualified' in my eyes was mum

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

I had asked my granddad until my nanna and I had a bit of a row last year about her going on holiday so will miss my wedding day (my nana and gpop have literally bought me up) anyway after that he withdrew his services and his suit was cancelled. Ive spoke to my miltb and she said my h2b dad would do it if I wanted him to, my eldest boy will be 7, but I was hoping he would be the ring bearer, or I might walk myself down the isle and offer myself to my h2b, i think thats quite romantic in it's own way...

It's a difficult one, but everyone will feel diferently about it - go with your heart x

I think you should stick to the original plan and do it with your little boy. You have loads of time to prepare mentally and build up your confidence. You could always ask your H2B to make sure he looks at you walking down the aisle so you can just focus on him and forget anyone else that will be there.
