Quick question. A girl in work just told me stamp prices are increasing in April, but I can't find this info anywhere online. Does anybody know if this is the case? I'm sending my invites out next month and will buy the stamps now if so. x

Postage is going up in April as Royal Mail are now having to add VAT to their services. Our prices in work are going up between 7 and 15 per cent.

Better go buy some more - we need some for evening invites Just make sure you buy 2nd class as well, we did, posted them on the sat and they all got there monday - dont waste your money on first class :)
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!
I bought my stamps on Saturday & i bought mine from s drug & they have an offer on at the moment for 5% off so i'd def get them now hun

we go through a lot of stamps through h2b's bay business and we buy stamps off the bay to save money. they have all been reused though. as long as they don't have a stamp across them, just peel off stamps from thinks sent to you and stick them on your stuff :)

Last time the prices went up I bulk bought stamps to save a bit. Just make sure they say '1st' and not a value as then you'd have to pay the increase.

Wowza, have you seen the increases?
From 30th April: 2nd class goes from 36p - 50p, 1st class from 46p - 60p. That's a pretty big leap!
I bought mine a couple of weeks ago as I'm not paying an extra £14 for flipping stamps.
CommentAuthorSubbyMinx
Wow, that is a lot!!! Makes me want to buy stamps now, even though I won't be sending any invitations out for well over a year!

I just noticed this thread, that's a huge price rise. firstly I will buy a stash of second class stamps for my invitations, secondly I'm going to be severely restricting anything else I pop in the post. I used to send cards for all sorts of things for my friends. I think for their greed I'll keep the money in my pocket and hand deliver them myself. Greedy little tinkers! x
CommentAuthorRoxy
I think with these crazy prices it's going to be cheaper to personally drive to our guests houses and deliever them ourselves, obs not the really far away guests but I'd say 80% live in a 10 mile radius, probs going to be cheaper for the diesel than for the stamps!
CommentAuthorMrsBroady2B
I saw it on the news part of yahoo. It says they are going up by almost 40%. The price goes up every year as the new tax year starts, but I think this is the most. Best to buy them now before they go up. Save your self the money.
CommentAuthorKate4
Mental isn't it. Such a big hike in price. I bought 100 to cover invites and thank you cards. May get some more for general posting!
CommentAuthorSweetchilli
Won't the PO be able to tell though if I buy 1st class now and post after the hike even if the stamp only has 1st printed on it? They might be able to tell by the colour of the stamp and then it might only be valued as a 2nd class even though it 1st?
CommentAuthorKate4
It doesn't matter, as long as it doesn't have a price on them you can use them forever basically. If you had a 20 yr old stamp that just said 1st/2nd it would still be valid today. I checked in the PO when I bought mine that they would be ok to use after the increase and she said yes.
CommentAuthorSweetchilli
Thanks for that smarties, I will buy mine tomorrow.
CommentAuthorRockabilly chick
My invitations arrived today and buying stamps today to get the invites out asap! :-)
I cant believe how much prices of everything keeps going up yet no wage rises so we are becomming more and more skint. Its pish.

I know. I think with a stamp, it may only be 14p more but I think it's the principal that's annoyed me! That's such a big increase it's not really fair.
Am glad I knew before the increase though as i'd have been buying my stamps soonish anyway and would rather not give them the extra money!
CommentAuthormillz090
And they wonder why post offices are going out of business? Charge a fortune for stamps so people email more and more stuff so have to put the prices up.... ridiculous. We used to post so much stuff at work and now email more to save money and help the enviroment.
