I have emailed my local beauty salon and asked them about a spray tan for my wedding. We get married on a saturday and they recommend getting it done on Thursday but I have not a spare minute on the Thursday! Would Wednesday be alright or would it start to fade and go patchy by then? Also she was honest and said that it may transfer to my dress if I get hot and sweaty on the day. I'd rather not have it done than have an orange dress. Any of you spray tan veterans and can offer any words of advice?

I wouldnt advise a spray tan as they do rub off easily. I had a st tropez tan done for my wedding and it was fab. I had it done on the thursday and got married on the saturday. I think I could of got away with having it done on the wed though.

I was going to go for a spray tan on the Thursday as well although i'm sure Wednesday will be ok. Whats the difference between a spray tan and a St.Tropez? I don't want an orange dress!! :0)

Kylee, a st tropez tan is when you go to a beauty salon and a therapist exfoliates your whole body then applies the tan for you. You then sleep in it over night and wash it off the next day. My tan didnt rub off on my dress.

They do st tropez at this salon too but she recommended an Organics tan. They're both spray tans tho aren't they?

I have been using sunbeds as I couldnt make my mind up about this and was having dilemmas as to what would be the best thing to do so decided I would use sunbeds and I have a hint of a tan not to orange or big fat gypsy wedding lol

you can get st tropez spray tan but I feel the ones that are applied by a therapist are better, because with the spray tans bits can get missed, whereas if someone is applying it, they will get it everywhere. Thats just my opinion from personal experience.

so what is the st tropez one if it's not a spray tan? I am so clueless about this sorry hun. Do you think it would last from wednesday and would it rub off on my dress?

Its a tan that a therapist apllies by hand, like if you was doing a tan at home. But they do it all professionally, and exfoliate all your body before applying it.

I've never had a spray tan rub off, but I've only had two and I imagine it to be quite possible. You could get it on the Wednesday, I'm sure. The one I get you have to leave on for 6 - 8 hours and then wash off, so you could make sure you exfoliate your whole body beforehand (or book a treatment so they do it for you) and then get the tan at about 2 p.m. so you can wash it off just before bed? Just make sure you keep yourself well moisturised and exfoliated and you should still be good for Saturday.

Ive had a st tropez "spray" tan rather than the cream and It went patchy and almost all of it washed off the morning after soooo I am not sure wot to do, Ive heard Sienna X spray tans r good, but i've been using dove (fair to medium) cos i'm pale, used it gradually n that seems to be working out nicely, It hasn't rubbed off on any clothes but i'm not sure about a White/ivory dress! If we get this weather I don't want to chance it lol x

I'm trying out the dove gradual tanning moisturizer, because normally I'm so pale I glow in the dark and it's working out really nicely for me, just a subtle hint of colour. I've tried spray tans and salon applied tans before but they all come out too dark for me, they rub off and wear away in patches. I'd recommend asking lots of questions and seeing if anyone you know has had this treatment from this salon, if they can give you a good review give it a go, and I'm sure getting it done one day earlier wouldn't be too terrible....

As someone who has been a "fake-it" tanner veteran for a very long time I would highly recommend that you don't get one for your wedding if you're wearing white.

I get a spray tan every 2 weeks as I cannot stand being pale but for the wedding will be going on the beds as I cannot have a) streaks or b) marks on my dress.
I have been through all spray tans as my beautician likes to use me as a Guinea Pig and have never come across one that is perfect. They ALL leave marks when you sweat so really not worth the risk on your big day.

    Hope this helps xx

    oooooh, now this thread has got me thinking;

I am dark haired and very pale - imagine Morticia Adams and thats me. So was planning on having a spray tan to make me look glowing, i'm having a trail one on Thursday night for my hen on saturday so i guess I'll see how that goes but i really don't want to look streaky and patchy!!!!

Guess i'll see how i get on over the weekend and take it from there!!!

can't do sunbeds as can't stand been enclosed in the compartments, i've tried Johnsons tanning cream but that has a smell to it and doesn't seem to do any good even though i've gone for natural to dark colour :o( xx

Hey A.bird to be I've also got the gradual tan moisturiser by Dove for fair to medium skin. How often should I apply it? Do you need to exfoliate before?
I didn't want to do a spray tan because I'm so pale. xx

When using the Dove if you want to do it gradual and not go too darkt hen apply it every other day and exfoliating is a good idea before you start it. xx

I decided to be natural for the wedding. I have had spray tans before and love them, but decided I didn't want to look too tanned as hubby would then look really pale next to me. St Tropez is brand of tanning stuff that comes in creams foams and spray. Its a brand, like fake bake or johnsons!

I am thinking about this the only problem is as I am gettin married in December I don't want to look stupid being brown and all my guests looking White because of this I was thinkin of going on the sun bed a little bit that way I would look too brown and I can control the colour I go. I know I shouldn't go on it really but I have never been on one in my life so I figure it can't do much harm can it?

hey lollilou, I exfoliate before, I have a really great shea butter exfoliator which is great for really sensitive skin, then I use the dove stuff after, I only do every other day and use a shea butter moisturiser on the days I'm not tanning. I do have a problem with it not taking on my scars (26 years of eczema!) but if you apply to those areas daily with a cotton bud it helps it to blend in a little better.

I'm so glad I clicked on this.
I get spray tans and never even fully thought about marks on the dress as I seem to off been quite lucky until now with the tan sticking to me but think I'll give it a miss and go tanning naturally.
I'm extremely pale (all veins and even worse follicles visible haha)
I saw the mitts in Primark and just walked by them. Think I'll be taking a trip back now!
