I'm just wondering whether people are going for the traditional fruit cake or sponge?

We dont like fruit but considered it because of the tradition of the first childs christening. We changed our mind and had what we wanted in the end :)

thankyou :-) That's what we are thinking.. I do like following some traditions but we don't really like fruit cake and I think the majority of other people prefer sponge too so I suppose it should be a day to have what we want x

The other thought that we would want the smallest one was the fruit and it would be too heavy for the sponge to hold xx

Lemon sponge for us
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan
We're having fruit on the bottom and two layers of sponge. H2B and I both love fruit cake so don't care if we have to eat it all by ourselves (but at the same time know others will want a bit of traditional stuff).

We had 4 tiers with the smallest in top being fruit for tradition amd the other 3 were sponge. Bottom chocolate, next up lemon and then vanilla sponge and then fruit as top tier.
