Well as you girls might be aware I had to bring my wedding forward so been trying to organise everything. Phoned the shop that my bridesmaid dress is from, I only actually ordered it 2 weeks ago so phoned and asked if i can get the order rushed to as soon as possible I would be willing to pay extra to make this happen.. Well the woman said that I have lost my £130 original deposit because this is classed as a seperate order. So got into an arguement about that with her and anyway she then phoned the dress supplyer and apparently the also want an extra £95 for my rush order. So in total this £245 dress is costing £470!!
Am i being really unreasonable in thinking this is VERY steep?

omg, i cant believe they are doing that, i can understand the £95 but loosing your original £130 deposit is ludacrus!
ring their head office and if that fails goes to cab

Cant wait to be married

Totally! I'd argue it was only 2 weeks ago you placed the original order and if they try to charge you that you'll make an official complaint and tell every bride on online forums that they shouldn't shop there!

apparently its a formal contract or something! I'm really angry its costing more than my dress!!!
CommentAuthorOWB
Do you have a copy of the contract? Check to see if there's a loophole. I understand charging extra for the rush, but it's not a new order, surely it's no more work for her?
Personally, I think that's terrible of them and I think that it's absurd that they want you to pay that much extra! I hope you can get it sorted out x

i cna defo understand the rush order as this seems to be common place but you should NOT lose your deposit. Check your terms and conditions as they have info on about date changes etc.

if it's only 2 weeks since you placed the order, don't you have 14 days 'cooling time' to think about things so you can cancel with no furthr obligations etc? most places with financial transactions do that, this shop should be no different. As above I'd very carefully check your t&c's x
CommentAuthorOWB
Distance selling regulations state a 7 day cooling off period, and only if the contract was signed away from the shop premises. Goods ordered to a personal specification' aren't covered by distance selling legistlation either. So this sale wouldn't be covered by cooling off legislation.

That is absolutely ridiculous, it's not a different order just asked to speed it up, it is still the same dress you want isnt it? I think that's a joke

the wording on the order form is.. If for any reason this contract is cancelled all dresses must be paid for in full, Or we we will have the right dispose of them at our discretion. there is aa surcharge for extra length, bigger sizes and express delivery.
although i think i might ask citizens advice and see what they say.

You haven't cancelled your contract with them, just amended it. Tell her you're going to CBA and see what she says.

That sounds ridiculous ! All you've done is ask for it to be quicker, not altered or cancelled!!!
CommentAuthorsuzky123
well there you go, according to the form there is only a charge for express delivery. One charge, not two. Call her to town on her own rules!
