how old is he? could you not just take his best friends somewhere for the day instead?

kids are fickle and chances are his school friends will forget about it so close to christmas.

My friend took my godson bowling with 2 of his friends and he preferred that.
The year before we had 10 of his friends making pizza in pizza express.

so long as you mark the day as his treat i'm sure he will be fine honey

Can you not look at doing something simple like a small buffett yourself and buy a supermarket cake. Kids dont eat that much and like all cheap things like cake, crisps etc. You could do your own music and play own games and do it at home. You could then make them little goodies bags.

kids bday parties are so expensive! my daughter has one each yr and this yr i have managed to get a good deal.
she's had a bouncy castle indoor one which was quite cheap 50 quid for 2 hrs i provided the food.
she's had build a bear they got a good bag and a bear (maccies was the food! not gr8 but the kids dont mind do they!) £9 then the happy meals on top. plus travel too.
this yr she is having a super funky roller disco 2hrs skating and food and goody bag included!£10 then travel on top.

but she is only allowed 3 friends from school the rest are either cousins or friends outside of school i have a max of 10 including herself!!

dont feel guilty about cutting down the numbers how old is he? cant you sit down and explain that they cost quite a bit and he can have some friends but not all?? i do this and my daughter is pretty good (she's 10 this month) and has always known i couldnt afford a huge party for her bday

bowling, the cinema, a swimming party, a football party,
    xxx

i really hope you sort something out xx
