Are these 4 things supposed to be all things given to you or things you sort yourself - or a mixture of both?

Well the something borrowed is obviously from someone else, but everything is can be things of your own or from where ever.

Ah cool, just I payed £120 for some ivory satin peep toes last summer, which Ive only worn once and think they'd go lovely with a wedding dress as my something old - but was unsure if the things had to be given lol

something old - is supposed to represent the link with the brides family and the past (usually a piece of jewellery from her mother or grandmother)
something new - represents good luck and success and the brides hopes for a bright future in her new married life. The wedding gown is often chosen as the new item but it could be anything that is purchased new for the wedding such as the wedding flowers or the wedding rings.
something borrowed - is to represent to the bride that friends and family will be there for her on the special day and in the future when help is needed. "Borrowing" is especially important, since it has to come from a happily married woman, thereby lending the bride some of her own marital happiness to carry into the new marriage. Anything can be borrowed but it must be returned afterwards.
something blue - in ancient times is the symbol of faithfulness, purity and loyalty. Often a blue item is the garter and in olden times the couple wore blue bands on the border of their wedding attire to denote, love, modesty and fidelity. Another way to wear something blue is to include a blue flower in your headdress or theme your wedding flowers in blue.
And finally, a silver sixpence in the bride's shoe represents wealth and financial security.

    xx

Something old - my shoes. They're mine, but not brand new.
    Someting new - my dress.
Something borrowed - need to work this one out!
Something blue - I bought some blue diamonte things to stick on the sole of my shoes that say "I do". Will look well cute when we kneel in the church!

My Nana died nearly 12 months ago and left me her wedding ring in her will. I am having it as my wedding ring, can this be used as my something old? as i wont be wearing it until the end of the service when we are married and wont have it on me before then.
