i would probably want a big picture of him blown up and put beside the altar. So that he is there with me, where he should be on my wedding day.
And I dont think the locket is daft either. You get some really pretty ones, and he will be close to your heart. Lovely idea.
Heart goes out to you, i couldnt imagine getting married without my Dad there.....xxx

After you wedding, how about leaving him a pic as well?
I don't know if this will be feasible for you, but I know of a bride who stopped at her twin sisters grave on the way to her wedding and left an identical bouquet.

Im having a second bouquet. The one im walking down the aisle with i going on my grandads grave after the photos and then im having another to cover the reception. The grave is at the bottom of the churchyard so me and hubby (wierd) will be having a few mins to ourselves to go put my flowers there. :) The second will be going to matts grandmas the day after :)
Also....grandad loved butterflies so i have that as my theme and even had one sewed on my train so he will be there with me. :D
Is there anything that he particularly liked which you could use as a memory and to symbolise him being there?
EDIT: i didnt mean the act was wierd....just that calling hubby lol.

I think it's a really lovely idea! Was going to say the same as Amie you can leave cards n letters at gravesides so def think you'd be able to do it and I think it'd be really nice but you know he'll be walking beside you on your big day anyway but at least with the invite he'll know where to go ;) xx

i never thought about putting my bouquet on his grave after but thats such a good idea!
nic - i think we should all do disclaimers on our titles now :D
ty dove..i be sure to leave him a good pic if there is one ha ha lol...venue is too far away from grave to do that but if it were closer, that would be a nice thing to do
there's the songs that was played at his funeral lindsey ..leann rymes - how do i love and eva cassidy - somewhere over the rainbow..so iw ant to incorporate them and possibly have the poem that was read too
and thanks linzi...he was 52 when he passed and i was 19..heartbreaking and my heart still breaks to this day but u just got to get on with it xx :

that's a lovely idea!!
both of my parents are dead and i got my mum's wedding and engagement rings. i wear them every day. her engagement ring has a emerald centre stone, so my colours for the wedding are emerald green with black. i was thinking about wearing my mum's ring around my neck as well. i wish she could be there in person, my dad too, but this way i will be surrounded by her.

I think its a great idea. I'd do that if my dad had died. You could put the locket around your bouquet

Lovely idea hun. My nan died 5 years ago so we have decided to get married on her and my gramps' wedding anniversary (as I'm sure many of you know as I have mentioned it once or twice lol) and I also want some of her favourite flowers somewhere but not sure where yet

It's a really thoughtful idea xx I'm lucky enough not to have an important person from my family not there at my wedding, but Iain was really close to his nan, and she died before we got together, so I never even got the chance to meet such a valued and well loved person in his life...the first woman he ever cherished I believe (and no matter what he efels for em, I still could never imagine holding bis heart the way she did x) I've been looking at subtle ways to include her memory on our wedding day, without causing upset to other members of his family, and I really like the idea of putting a bouquet on the gravestrone...I'm going to speak to Iain and see if he wants me to do something similar for his nan, from the two of us, maybe a replica of my bouquet, or just a select flower, and her very own special bouquet of flowers...maybe my fave flower a lily, and her fave flower to kind of unite us??!! I'm sure your dad would be really proud of you on your day xx
CommentAuthorMrsMills2b
I think the invite and bouquet ideas are fab!! Andrew and I are lucky to have both sets of parents, but we've both lost very dear grandads, and I've been toying with the idea of having photos of them at the reception, so that in a way they're still there with us!! xx

thats a really thoughtful idea, i am looking at ways i can incorporate my best friend who sadly passed away 9 yrs ago, her parents will be at the wedding then i was going to put one of the bouquets on her grave the day after along with a laminated photo, im going to do the same for my nans grave too. Im also looking into Cystic Fibrosis favours which was what donna suffered with. plus if i do choose purple as my theme its the CF trust colour!!!!!!!!!!!
