And we have decided to give it a go!
well, we are going to let whatever happens happen for the next year or so and hopefully be with child.
    Anyone have any tips?
Ive got a longer menstrual cycle than most, so would this effect my chances?

Could try ovulation sticks Hun. As that will help you to know when ovulating also the deed every other day, don't put too much pressure on yourselves either, have also heard bum in the air afterwards.
I have a 4yr old son but I was on the pill so was a big surprise at 17 :)

Oh wow! my mum fell for my brother whilst on the pill so i know it can happen hehe

Just try to relax and enjoy it. Don't get too obsessed with ovulation sticks or temperatures, it makes it stressful!

I have long cycles of between 35 and 40 days, haven't fallen yet, and it's been 2 and a half years off of the pill, but every one is different. I also don't ovulate every month, so it could be worth looking out for ovulation symptoms just so you know it's all working.

Have fun and good luck!! Xx

i would do ovulation sticks the cle@r variety digital always works best for me! to detect when you ovulate/ if you ovulate regularly, then take it easy once you know when to expect it. The key is not to get obsessed/stressed about it (easier said than done) the calmer you are the more chance it's going to happen. I heard it takes approx 20 mins for the sperm to find where it needs to go, so stay put for at least half an hour lying flat on your back. Also try not to symptom watch and it may set you up for a fall which again will put pressure on the whole thing...

Just take it month by month :) x

Definitely relax and fun! I have a 42 day cycle, came off the pill in July, had a period mid-August and we are going for our 12 week scan next week! Funily enough it was quite a shock for us as we thought it would be at least 6-12 months before there was a chance of it happening as I had been on the depo for ten years before changing to the pill about a year ago.

Hehe thanks girlies, yeah we said that we won't label it and we are just going to have fun without the pressure of "must make babies"
ive only sort of told my mum, and even then i just said we were thinking about it.
no point telling everyone we know as it could lead to disappointment

Oh, should I be taking it when I'm trying?

I won't tell anyone apart from UKB ladies we're trying, a, it's none of their business and b, it's too much pressure then. I'm sick of family, friends and colleagues asking, I'm also surrounded by pregnant people, at work, the gym and cousins!

Try to relax although it's easier said than done! My first (now 4) just 'happened' (oops lol) then we decided we didn't want a massive age gap so started trying for #2 when she was 18 months old. Didn't expect it to happen quite as quicly as it did! I was determined not to get obsessed with ovulation sticks etc but me being me I did, and I drove OH mad with it - luckily I got pregnant the first month I started using them!

I don't know if I sound really selfish or not but I have managed to lose a hell of a lot of weight, went from a 16 to a size 10.....and I'm worries about getting big again lmao....that's the only thing really putting me off atm.
I told my mum and she laughed and is betting That we won't be waiting long, wish I never said anything to her tbh as now she will probably ask me every month, or tell me that I'm probably pregnant when I have hiccups lol.
Shall defiantly get myself some folic acid though.
