im getting so frustrated that alot of the venues ive looked at are 50% cheaper if u have it on any other day but a saturday!!
ive got to have mine on a saturday, coz theres alot of people who have to travel n wudnt want to take a day off work. and i cant blame them coz atm every penny counts.
i wud just love to know why, if they can do a wedding at a fraction of the cost say on a friday or sunday. whats the difference to a saturday?
calm me down ladies coz its really annoying me lol xx

Saturdays are more desirable so they can charge more. It's a supply and demand thing, there are 52 Saturdays vs 104 Fri/Sun in 2013. Plus Saturday is a more popular day for the reasons you listed.
I think the availability of midweek/Friday&Sunday packages is the venues attempt to maximize profits and to get weddings in on days there traditionally wouldn't be a wedding.

Re-reading that I'm not sure the explanation will make you feel any better. Tbh those packages annoy me to because I really can't/don't want a Wednesday wedding of Fri/Sun. But at least those packages allow some very lovely ladies to have the day of their dreams when they otherwise couldn't afford to do so.

Unfortantly this is just the way the wedding world works and like sarah says its all about supply and demand!
Some venues will do cheaper Saturdays IF you have a winter/out of season wedding so maybe thats an idea for you to look into?

Everybody has to work these days but dont rule out a sunday/weekday wedding just yet! If you send out save the dates and give plenty of notice most ppl will actually take a day or two of work for such an occassion.
Or perhaps work it round school holidays?

We basically got our venue half price because we are having our day on a sunday out of season so there are pro's maybe do a pros and cons list?

Down here Venues charged the same on Friday, Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Only Monday to Thursdays offer a reduced rate and then only in the off peak months.
Have you tried to see if you can do a last minute deal? Or you could try booking in advance, We're getting married in 2015 but paid 2012 prices as we booked so far in advance (yes we're getting married on a Saturday). But if that really isn't do-able a mid week wedding is becoming more the norm and if you give people plenty of notice they should be able to arrange time off.
    Really is fustrating though!

I wouldnt rule out a friday wedding either as like been said with enough notice and also i looked into friday weddings and the more i did the more it appealed as my family and friends would travel so it would mean taht we would actually then also get and extra 2 days together aqs would spend weekend up here which would be lovely xx

At the end of the day, the wedding industry is a business, and they are going to want to make as much profit as possible. If I owned/ran a venue there is no way I'd reduced my prices for Saturdays if I knew I could get the price I wanted (and most venues can; most we looked at were fully booked for Saturdays over the summer 6-12 months in advance) just because some couples can't/won't pay the higher prices. Also, staffing costs can be higher for Saturdays, as can supplier costs, which can also drive prices up (particularly at venues with 'all inclusive' packages that include things like a DJ, photographer, flowers, etc). I agree it's frustrating; but that's life unfortunately.

Ellen's suggestion of booking in advance is a good one; we also booked very far in advance, and several venues we spoke to agree to fix the current year's prices for us, with a couple agreeing to a slightly higher rate. Given most venues I've looked at seem to go up by 5-10% year on year, this was a good deal.

alot of good points ladies, thank you.
i am flexible to the point im not bothered about when the wedding is, was think march/april/may or september/october. especially leaning towards sep/oct coz how the weather seems to fall. our summers seem to be getting later.
i am looking at venues now to hopfully get this years prices coz oh wants to get married nx yr.
