Sorry ladies, I need to get this off my chest!

A while back I posted about how because she paid for the dress, my aunt was keeping it at hers because I dont have any space, and how she got my dress out and let her mate try it on, then had the cheek to take pictures and send them to me before I'd even seen the dress myself.

Well I should have taken it home with me there and then, cos now she's gone one step further. My mother went round there today and its just come out that my aunt has got the dress out for her and my young nephews. I dont speak to my mother, in fact I can honestly say I hate the woman, and I'm so SO cross that she's had her paws all over my dress. By the sounds of it they've even got it dirty - "but you'll be getting it cleaned and pressed before the day anyway, wont you, so it doesnt matter too much". (Its a preloved dress). Its not even that, I just feel sickened by this woman pulling it out and having a good old look at it, probably judging it as well, making snide comments about how fat and trampy I will look in it. She isnt at all interested in the wedding and has blatantly done this purely to annoy me, and boy has it worked. I have a massive thing about nobody seeing it before the day, and thats now my aunt, gran, aunts friend, her lodger, my mother, and my three nephews that have seen it, plus plenty of others who were told the style and designer - not by me I hasten to add - and then went and Googled it. I love the dress so much but I just feel like it isnt anything special anymore :(

(Sorry, reading it back now I'm a bit calmer it all seems a bit petty, but I just cant believe how insane I went. Nobody is going to remember a thing about the dress in August but thats beside the point! I just tried to explain my absolute rage to my other half and the best I could come up with is it feels like someone has done a massive sick down the front of the dress. You can clean the sick off, and its still the dress it was, but its never quite the same..)

.."She'll promise you more than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while your bleeding
But she'll bring out the best and the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself 'cos she's always a woman to me.."

Its not's petty at all hun! I would be mortified if this happened to me and i feel so sorry for you. This is the reason i don't want my dress to go to my grandmas as she would show it to others. If someone had tried my dress on i would go aboustly barmy.

I think you need to talk to your auntie about this and is there any chance of getting the dress moved? x

I am dispatching my other half to collect it tomorrow, I dont even want to have to see her! I'll shove it under my bed if I have to. She will be modelling it for the postman and wearing it out down to buy the paper next!

I really don't know what else to say and i know it won't help matters but i hope you've gave your aunt a piece of your mind. She's done a good thing in buying and storing it for you but it's in no way hers to show off. You've trusted her as far as i'm concerned and she's broke that trust xxx

It's not petty at all; I consider myself very laid-back, but this would make me very upset, and very angry.

I would really take the dress from her asap; I'd also be seriously thinking about whether she deserved an invite to the wedding, regardless of whether she's paid for the dress..

Don't shove it under the bed - it's not the fault of the dress. It deserves to be treated nicely after everyone's had their mitts on it.

Hang your beautiful dress somewhere that your H2B knows not to look. Take it to the cleaners and then it'll be right as rain :o)

Thanks everyone, I'm so glad nobody thinks I'm over-reacting. It actually shocked me how angry I got, my other half thought I was having some kind of apoplectic fit! My mum has been a spiteful vindictive cow all of my life, I guess the thought of getting one over with my wedding dress was too much for her to resist! As for my aunt, I thought one telling off would be enough, she was probably excited for me in her own way as she isnt a nasty person, but like you say its probably best I get it out of there! x

Awww hun I doubt there's a single person on here that'd think you were overreacting. If you're not showing people she has no right to do so, I'd be raging! Infact, I got a private msg on facebook from someone I went to school with (but not close to) saying she'd seen the pics of me trying dresses on and her faves were to first 2 too (my faves).... I couldnt believe it! Thankfully the dress I've gone for isnt either but that was just the pics, never mind my dress being pawed x

Oooh the cheek of that!! Did you find out who'd sent your pictures around? I dont know whats wrong with some people, its almost akin to having your undie draw rifled though, for me anyway (my mums done that too on many occasions, looking for where I keep my cash!). If I wanted their opinions I'm not the sort of person who wouldve been shy in asking for them!! I just got a message from my mother saying she doesnt understand what the problem is and that I am being ridiculous. Thankfully I've calmed down a bit or I'd have gone and punched her face in! lol x

It was my MOH showing her, she didnt do it out of badness, I think it was just thoughtlessness on her part. Still - no pics to be had of me in thee dress... lesson learnt! Now you've said what you needed to say, get the dress and dont rise to anything more - by what you've said your mum's looking for a reaction - dont let her think it's bothering you anymore x

I cant imagine being sent pictures of someone else wearing my dress, i would be so upset. the dress is so important and its a shame that she has been showing your dress off without your consent (who would consent honestly!) especially to people you would rather not see it! At least it will be back in safe hands tomorrow xx

OMFG!!! I dont think you are over reacting at all! its well known that the dress is supposed to be a closely guarded secret....unless YOU want to show it to people, thats YOUR perogative to do that and no-one elses!
Maybe she feels she has the right to do that because she paid for it, but thats totally unacceptable.
If you didnt love it so much, how sweet it would be to tell her to stuff it, and go get another dress, then she would be left with a wedding dress on her hands.....that'd show her!
I'm surprised she hasnt shown your H2B.

Dont let her make you feel as if you are being petty either, because you are not, SHE is the one that did wrong, not you.

Get the dress to the cleaners and I'm sure it will be as good as new and H2B won't look wherever you store it, he will know the etiquette better than your auntie does!
