I stopped taking the pill back in October and we are trying for a baby. I have been under a lot of stress since the wedding so I am not really surprised we haven't concieved yet but I am getting impatient we have to wait till our honeymoon in April now otherwise I wont be able to go. Was anybody else impatient when is came to trying???

I think you need to relax and not see trying for a baby as a chore and just make love like at least everyday or twice a day ;) I must admitt I would be impatient too I'm going to stop taking the pill the end of August and fingers crossed I will fall pregnant straight away in September as I want a June 2014 baby or July 2014 If I fall pregnant in October Cant rush falling pregnant It will happen when Its meant too =D <3 X

It can take up to a year trying to be considered normal, so not really a worry if you've only been trying since oct... It'll happen when ur not thinking about it, like probs when ur enjoying ur honeymoon x

And ur more likely to fall pregnant if u have a days gap between having sex so the sperm has more chance to get quality bk... It's about quality not quantity when trying to get pregnant

Also if you just have s*x like usual instead of properly trying otherwise you'll put yourself under unnecessary pressure and it'll be less likely to happen. Just have the attitude of 'when it happens it happens' and you'll probably conceive quicker x x

Completely agree with the above posts, when you are trying it just tenses you up, my mum got pregnant with my little sister a few weeks after giving up on trying for another one! x

i came off the pill last July and we're still trying. My son is 19 now - and I actually got pregnant while on the pill with him, but this time it's taking a lot longer. I was on the pill for quite a few years though, so what with that and being overweight and 40, sometimes it feels like we're fighting a losing battle lol.

The gp has told us it can usually take between 6 months and a year plus though - so for now we'll just carry on having fun trying lol.

    Hey Ossie!!!

It doesn't matter how many times people tell you it will happen when it happens, I know how much it hurts each month, even the first time you don't get lucky.

But, after 10 months, and two very early miscarriages, we did get lucky, and everyday I am grateful and thank whoever's in charge of fate!!

All I will say is that as hard as it can be, stay strong, have fun, relax and enjoy the trying. Everyone's different, but they say the average time to conceive is 6mths to a year, so just keep reminding yourself (if it doesn't happen sooner) that there's nothing wrong with you and it's normal for it to take a bit of time!!!

Happy to help with any hints and tips though! After 10 months I have LOADS!!!! hahahah!!!

    xxx

Conceiving is a complicated thing, i'm pretty much know all there is about it as i've been undergoing tests since 2009 for pcos etc and the highes and lows of TTC over the last 4 or so years! i tried every trick, OV tests, lifting my bum up after sex lol EVERYTHING! and i got more worried as time went on!

Last year i was in full swing planning the wedding/honeymoon, looking forward to the honeymoon etc and i was certain that this was the one time in 4 years i wanted to wait to have a child for another year as i had soo much to look forward too! then WHAM 2 months of me being in this mind set and i found out i was pregnant! saaadly found out i mc at 8+1 weeks but the point i'm getting at is you have just got to treat it as something in the back of your mind, have sex often without pressure, take vitamins(there are a few good ones out there) conieve plus is also supposed to be good too! and just try as hard as you can to crack on with everyday things and have TTC not at the forefront of your mind, all this will give you great chances. I would also advise taking some ov tests for a few months to track you ovulation then STOP taking them and go off what you have found out in terms of when too have sex more. Hope this helps a little! x

I was told I couldn't have kids and then got pregnant which was a bit of a shock the first time. We tried for a year for our second and it was getting me down so we stopped... two months later I found out I was 5 weeks Pregnant.

It will happen. I think trying to conceive just makes you and your partner stressed which stops or slows down what needs to happen. I hope that in April when you start trying again you just go with it. x

As soon as you start to try and conceive take folic acid. I think thats whats the usual suggestion. I dont know about any of these extra vitamins. I was only told I shouldn't take them without a doctors permission while I was pregnant

me and my h2b where trying for about 9 month at the beggining we had the news i was preg but the baby had stopped growing and died :( after that i was majorly majorly stressed and it just wasnt happening :( its only about a month back we decided we where stoppin trying and when we do the "dance with no pants" as my h2b says, then we will just let it happen... sometimes it takes a while especially after pill it can take upto a year n a half to get back to normal, just dont think about it, dont check periods, or ovulation or even think about it during "the dance" ...... it will happen.... trust me :D xx
