In a bid to distract myself from having to do the ironing whilst the kids were behaving themselves and being quiet i decided to attempt some sort of bridal hair, curling it and pining it up. My hair's only should length at the mo so hoping my next year the extra length will make it much easier! Any who here's my attempt.. I think i shall buy myself an tiara and veil now just so i can practice :)

needs a bit more back combing i think

I love it. Can't wait till my hair is long enough to play with. Need to dye it back to a more natural colour though first I got bored so its a kind of mix between post box red and mahogany.

That's lovely, really like that style, I'm impressed, I can't do anything with my hair, just don't have the skill for it. xx

Well i wasn't gonna but if i can practice enough and teach someone else to do it friend/ bridesmaid i might think about it, just the cost of hair practice and on the day etc seems quite steep and i'm so fussy i'd be annoyed if it wasn't right. So thought i could practice as a back up and if i've not got enough money left to stretch to it next yr i have a back up plan! xx
Indreamland it required no skill at all just some ghd's! i curled it all in layers which didnt take that long an looked really messy as some curls were better than others and some were this way and that but then i just shoved it back with a few grips and it looked much better when the curls were all bunched up! You should try having a play about just to see! x

It looks lovely hun :) and if your hair isn't as long as you would like it to be on the day, there are some really nice hair pieces you could get to fill it out a bit :)
CommentAuthorInDreamland
I have GHD's hun and have tried lots in the past when I have been a guest at weddings but I just can't do it. I can do a few loose curls but it never looks that great, I do it in layers too, do you curl and pin or curl it all first then pin? xx

oh wow looks great, beats anything i could ever do im not that great with straightners..lol. you doing your own hair then?xx
CommentAuthorsprucey83
curled it all and scraped it all back with grips then any bits round my neck that had gotten a bit flat in the process i gave a bit more of a curl to but thats it. I've never really managed to do it before, when i've curled my hair for friend weddings i've always ended up looking like an irish dancer or annie but find if i then put it up or pin it back it looks much better as a mass of curls! Should've taken a pic before i scraped it back then you could see how rubbish it was! lol xx
CommentAuthorNikitaL
Indreamland, why don't you have a look on the tube? They have tutorials on almost everything on there?
CommentAuthorInDreamland
The best I can do is more simple, I tend to do the longer lengths underneath straight nearer the root then just curl the ends then nearer the top and forehead straighten a little less and curl more for a more natural look. Takes me ages. Yours looks amazing up. How long did it take?

I'd say do your own hair for the wedding. It looks great in the photos! Plus you'll save a lot of money. My hairdresser's quite expensive but I'm rubbish at doing my own hair lol xx

After fiddling about here and there and searching for grips prob about an hour max. Like Nikita said there's tonnes of u tube clips on curling hair, i always seem to curl it the wrong way or forget what way im supposed to be turning my hand but there's nothing hairspray and grips can't do! x

An hour is good actually. Takes me half an hour to straighten mine.
Getting mine and two BM's hair done for free, my uncle is a hairdresser and is amazing! Did hair for my sisters wedding and did the most amazing job.

Yeah i don't know why i haven't got any friends who are hairdressers! Annoying really! I think i might start hunting down those friends and colleagues who always seem to look good and see if they like doing hair!.. xx

Thanks ladies! Was just a bit of a mess around really to see how difficult it'd be! It's stayed curly all day! got on my nerves having it on my neck earlier so i put a small jaws clip thing (dont know the offical word!) at the back underneath to twist it up out the way an it looks better! all curls tumbling down an you cant see the clip. I can see hours of wasted time doing my hair now! lol xx

it looks fab, i'm growing mine at the minute but not sure exactly what I want, too nervous to do my own I think cause as you I am fussy and would get frustrated if it wasn't right...my bridesmaid is quite good at hair though .. mine get her to practice some styles
