Since I finally discovered I'm divorced, we began proper talks about the wedding last night. I - like lots of you - have collected lots of ideas from watching 4 Weds and the other shows and also this week saw an article in a popular puzzle mag - name associated with Kitkats, lol (are we allowed to mention names of mags and shows for real on here?). So the plan is this - bear in mind we're not young and we don't want the tradition or expense etc: First, we get married in civvies at the registry office. This might be in the week or on the day. Our guests are to be invited to a flash mob wedding at a local favourite castle grounds - they don't do weddings there, it's a public park. Basically our 60 -70 guests will be milling doing what visitors do. Then one will start to get out bunches of flowers, others will join to help, then more will appear to hold up swags of material to create an aisle, someone will put on some music. H2b and his people will all get to the top of the 'aisle' with, hopefully, my brother as Master of Ceremony (he's an actor and would be brill). We will then exchange vows and rings, have our booked photographer take some quick photo's then we'll all leave just as quickly, leaving nothing behind. We'll then go to a local village community centre which I will have decorated (still sunflowers / rainbows theme) earlier. We'll have afternoon tea (I used to be in catering so I'm going to do this food and pay someone to be there to set it out etc) We'll then have an informal reception with a couple of speeches. I'm going to have a pay as you go bar there, unless we decide we can provide the booze and keep it chilled. We have a friend DJ'ing and he does karaoke, my son and brother are also in a band, so after some mingling we're going to do another flash mob for the first dance, which will have to be East 17 just to make everyone cringe and pick on my h2b, coz he's a die-hard fan. Then we'll get out the blow up guitars and big plastic glasses and wigs and have an evening of lots of fun, singing, dancing, making fools of ourselves. We also have a BBQ booked already for the evening. I will provide Costco desserts and make the cakes myself - I know my guests won't eat alot, it'll be soak up food later which they'll go off and buy anyway as they leave.
I just feel we want lots of fun, it's what our people like and it's going to be close enough for people to get taxi's etc. It's also an indoor only venue, so people have to stay together (at my engagement half were in the garden downstairs whilst the rest were upstairs) I also have my baby sister getting married very close to mine and hers is going to be the pretty, romantic church wedding so I don't want all our same guests to have to experience the same thing twice over.
It also means we can do this on a Saturday as we can get married legally any day in the week ( our registry office is only open until 12 on a Saturday) Just got to locate, order, book and pay now, lol xx

I am doing something similar. We have booked the registry office for 10am on the morning of the wedding day which we will do in smart/casual clothes with just immediate family as guests ( as we are only allowed 30 people attending), then we are going back to our hotel to get changed into our proper wedding clothes before heading to the beach for a unity ceremony (staying at hotel if its raining), then back to the hotel for the reception. :) Hopes your day turns out to be as fun as it sounds..
Soon to be joined together as the Wheeler family, can't wait
Doing thing our way xxxx

There are a few different videos for flash mob weddings on youtube - and it looks rather fun! If that's what you would like to do, go for it! x

Oh I am having fun planning already :0) Glad I had most of the day off today. And my EHO visit went well. I am apparently "low risk" so won't get another visit for 5 years, lol.
