Do you mean for the reception?

All I'm doing is going through my i-tunes and finding songs that mean something to us and then burn them to a disc to play during the meal, then our DJ gets a pretty much free run for his evening set

But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

We are looking to have a harpist or something like that to play while guests are waiting for us to arrive and also during the wedding breakfast. Have horrible fear of silence between the 2 families! There is a bit of snobbery on my partners side, thinking they are above people, and the fact that most of my family are from Liverpool, they poke fun at that! So a bit of music will ensure there isn't a deathly silence! :) But having a dj for evening, all my family love a good dance, the other lot can sit and whinge, lol. xx

Or i would quite like a bag piper to announce our arrival at the hotel, lived up there for most of my life, so a bit of "home" would make my day! x

thats what we been affraid of is the silence, but really didnt know what to have to fill it, we didnt want over the loud music blasting from the speakers or someone screaching in our faces when we trying to eat!!!!

We just been so confused about it all and are only now really thinking about it,

we seen a lovly string quartet at a wedding fair but not sure if its too much and dont really know what to expect from them
    xx

You just have to ask them what songs or pieces of music they play, there are so many and the prices vary so much. We have seen a harpist who is cheaper than another one we looked at, and she is more experienced and has more songs on her list!! Think it would cost about £200 for a few hours. They should really look to accommodate you on what you want though if they want your business! Just look around before you commit yourselves. xx

Yeah you are right there Relfy, some venues can provide background music, in some places (which i couldn't afford) what you pay covers them providing music, wouldn't it be nice to have endless amount of money! :) x

We're lucky because we've got a DIY venue so we can just take a cd player down and save heaps of money on live music, plus we know the music will be ok because it's done by the original artists. I'd definitely check with your venue as I know (from my years of working at weddings) that some places will let you take a cd in and they'll play it through their sound system OR they'll have a 'wedding' cd with classical music xxx
