me and h2b went and looked at a venue, loved it spoke to my dad, who offered to pay deposit.
We got contract last week and I rang to query a few things and now they are changing everything they told us!!!
our package is 40 day,we were told each child is half price so we had 36 adults and 8 children so that is same prie as 40 adults,this was fine, now we have to pay for extra 4 children!! We get no choice of menu its one set thing and thats it, we were told we would have a choice, all vegetarians have to have same meal!
If we were told all of this before we wouldnt have booked, then icing on the cake was I organised a meeting yesterday and the woman never turned up and when I rang today all she could say was I dont work weekends,no, sorry no nothing and if we need a meeting it has to be in evenings as h2b works will 5 so we are expected to go there after 6 when we have 2 kids to get to bed!!!
Im starting to wish we could just cancel and go somewhere were they apprciate us,what is supposed to be an exciting and happy time is already stressing me out and wedding isnt for 17 months!!!!!!!!

Thats awful behaviour! Is there anyone else you can talk to to findout why you were told one thing and now got another? Maybe the original person you spoke to or the hotel manager? This isn't on! Does your contract say the original details or the changed ones, because if its the original details either they stick with it or you go elsewhere - full deposit refund because then they are backing out of their agreement. I don't blame you for being angry - false advertising and just plain lying makes me crazy! I hope you can find some kind of arrangement that you are happy with x

unfortunately a lot of hotel packages (in fact all i have dealt with) dont distinush between adlts and children for the package numbers, its only if you go over that figure they come into their age groups, so that could be a misunderstanding.
they need to uphold the details on the original booking if you have paid the deposit, however if you havent paid anything, then they can change details.
As for the woman not turning up to a pre-booked meeting, then contct the general manager, especially with the way she spoke to you
if you already had a contract drawn up it should say on there what you agreed to. if not i would take it further x

you have 2 options...
get out - get deposit back as without signing the contract they have no right to the deposit money!
or
read every letter, full stop, dotted i, crossed t, and make sure that the contract states what you agreed to, sign it and date it before the conversation! they then are legally obliged to follow the contract in which THEY drew up!
Find out who you are & do it on purpose!

Oh wow that sounds awful! U can imagine if ur not happy there should be a complaints procedure or get out clause. If u paid only deposit maybe bite the bullet and cancel!

I would take it further and tell them if they are not willing to give you what was stated when you booked then you want a full refund since they have changed things since your booking and therefore shouldnt of affected your booking which was made before and changes took place, Explain to them you are not happy with the changes made and you did not agree to them when you booked hun x

Ive sent thtm an email stating everything, weve looked at the t&c, and know they cant with hold the deposit so that isnt a major issue,its just we have photographer and registrar booked!! we love the venue and want to give them opportunity to sort things out but am worried now they will make things awkward for us!

if they try make things arkward hun I would just advise you will be seeking legal advice regarding the matter as when you booked you booked to what was agreed not for them to change it all without even offering a compromise x

tell them that you want ur deposit back and get out while you can (they can't keep the deposit without a contract), if they pull there socks up at that threat then make sure you deal with someone else and also that you get what you agreed if they can't provide that then sod em!

If not happy now,they may try something else later on,I changed my venue on similar grounds they changed things from our discussion with them ,my contract was different when I received it,so I cancelled,I like the one I have now,they are will to change things to suit us.A lot of venues have their own rules and seem to change when they want to to suit them,so think carefully if you really want to stay with them,then before you sign anything else read carefully and be as fussy as you want,its your day after all,I run a directory so see some of the venues and how they work.

I would definately get out of this one, it is shocking the way they are treating you. I would also speak to a manager about the treatment you have received and also back this up in writing and get your money back too. I wouldn't have any confidence in their service anymore if this is how it started off., the thought of our wedding day been ruined by someone else would distress me and i wouldn't enjoy the day at all. xx

Ive spoken to the manager of the hotel and he says they will not change the menu, its a set menu for the packages,something we were not informed of when booking! Ive got a meeting with the wedding coordinator tomorrow night so if things are not resolved we will be getting deposit back and looking elsewhere. I have never been to a wedding where it was one set menuwithout anysay from the bride and groom!!

Our package from the hotel we chose has been very flexible. When we originally discussed the tweaks here and there it was with their wedding co-ordinator. When we called more recently to go back and discuss a few more details we found that she had left to have a baby and there were two ladies dealing with the weddings. When we turned up I was ready to argue all of the changes we had agreed on as she had no paperwork, notes etc from our original chat. However she simply wrote down the things we told her had been adjusted and was very helpful with everything else. This is how it should be! I would demand to speak to the manager and remain calm but very firm that your decision to book with them was based on those original plans and if they can not get you the original person to confirm this then I would refuse to leave until they either altered the contract or refunded you. I'm not surprised if you are regretting your choice to book with them, poor thing! Kick up an almighty stink, take some back up if needs be, H2B, mother in law, sister, best friends anyone that will assist you in fighting your corner! Standing your ground in a hotel lobby in front of other guests is always helpful :) Let us know how you get on! xx

If u cancel the venue dont worry about register as long as its the same day n time n area tgen they will change it for no extra cost hun, cant believe their done that to ya hope u get it sorted and whats the venue called so other brides can be warned x

Best Western Hotel in Retford, Im hoping in the meeting tonight we can sort it out,weve come up with a compramise if they will not change the menu x
Prob weve got is finding somewhere else that is suitable there isnt many venues around me thats within our price range tbh xx

well got back and we are happyish!!!!
They have agreed on a few changes for us, we can choose 2 starters,mains and desserts, and 2 vegetarian meals and then when we know what everyone wants we pay the difference in the menus, Ive got the bridal suite the night before the wedding if I want to use it and they are knocking the £5 off for the children for the drinks package.
So not entirely the outcome we wanted but a compramise which means we dont have to go changing venues as we really didnt want to x
