was planning on getting married in june 2014 but the venue i love are fully booked! they've offered us a winter wedding but i'm undecided as i've had my heart set on a classic british tea party theme which works better outdoors in the summer ... my OH did make the point of 'well it might rain anyway' which is true ... so i don't know what to do :( we're having a REALLY small wedding, just 12 guests ... so if anybody has any suggestions for venues for really small weddings that'd be great thanks

Maybe you could hire a large cottage and make a weekend of it? Granted, you couldn't have the ceromony there probably, but you could have the reception there? Xx

hi little kettle, ideally looking for somewhere in the countryside ... to go with the vintage/british/tea party theme.
brilly & laura , thank you i will start looking into those ideas ! :)
anywhere in england! as i said, only having 12 people, me, him, 8 members of immediate family & then my best friend (bridesmaid) and his best friend (best man) so we don't mind traveling really for the right venue. The original one we had in mind was in Devon and we're from Herts x

This is what we are doing... we are hiring a ten bedroom house and having a weekend long party! The house has got a swimming pool, jacuzzi, games room and a lovely garden with a stream running through it. There is also a small church on the same road as it - I can send you the links if you are interested? It's in Lincoln xx

What about looking at a tea room. We originally booked one, then cancelled when it was sold and we weren't sure what the new owners were going to be like. This is in Knutsford, has a lovely conservatory inside and a beautiful courtyard if the weather is good. I'm sure there are similar places all over the country!

I'm getting married at Trevenna Barns and that would be perfect for a tea party theme :) xx

There a large house in Worcestershire called Beau Castle (it isn't a castle). You can hire it per night, and have exclusive use. The company can also organise themed parties for you at the house.
It was on my list of potential venues, but the company wouldn't allow a marquee in the garden :-(

If you can get september/october it might not be too bad, the weather during the summer is variable anyway so you may get the "indian summer" in the later months and all the lovely colours that autumn brings :)
Also as my other half always points out, the groomsmen aren't sweating away in their suits :D
