Hi all. I'm not sure if this is in the right place

I have been thinking about favours and wondered if anyone had any ideas for what me and the h2b could do? Also what is the point of them and do you really need them as my h2b doesn't understand and I'm not very good at explaining to him

You don't really need them but they are traditional. I suppose it comes down to individual preference. Usually 5 sugar almonds are given but you could have anything you want - if you have anything at all.

it's your choice if you have them or not , I have picked - little glass white and silver baubles as my theme is winter - the reason for this specific choice is that when everyone puts their trees up in december hopefully they will think about how awesome our day was.

I was at a friends wedding in june and she didn't have any - thought to be honest we didn't realise until we were on our way home.

If you re struggling - work it around your theme or colour.... have you chosen one yet ?

We wasnt going to get specific favours but were going to get wedding crackers and put them on the tables with a little marriage joke and some small items like a chocolate heart or something inside x

you dont have to have them hun, my friend had some love hearts in an organza bag, we are doing a candy buffet and getting little bags to put their sweets in with a poem on so they have them as a favour x

@zoe what a lovely idea, I wish I had a winter wedding to go to with such lovely favours now.

I'm not sticking to the traditional almonds as I hate almonds even though I know there is a sweet meaning to them. I'm getting the "Just Married" LoveHearts, some miniature bottles of fruit liqueurs for the drinkers and Help for Heroes pin badges. I have a couple of recovering alcoholics coming both men so they will get aftershave samples. I'm also making little fun packs for the kids.

I went to future bil wedding a couple of weeks ago and they had a large beautifully wrapped box with a mug and twinings teabags inside. The mug was really cute, plain white with "love" printed in small letters really simply.

Some people have cookies or a cake, candles are popular at the moment. It's really up to you hun. x

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!

I think they are not necessary. BUT nevertheless I like it - our place card holders will double as favours - moustaches and lips on sticks for chaps and ladies and mini crochet cupcakes for the kiddos.

There are loads of threads on here with just about every idea possible if you put favours in the search bar. Traditionally favours were given to female guests as a way of sharing her good luck. They contained 5 items to represent health, wealth, fertility, happiness and a long life. I think now they are seen more as a thank you for coming kind of gift but it comes down to personal preference. It is very difficult to please everyone and as a wedding planner I saw loads of favours left behind much to the couples disappointment. If you have the budget for them great but I dont know anyones wedding ruined by there being no favours!

I'm going for an eco wedding (well, as eco as possible - engagement ring recycled from family rings, second hand dress, bus to the wedding/venue to save to many cars being used etc), so my favours will be little home-made bird seed love hearts. If people don't want them then I'll take them all home! I'm obsessive about the birds in my garden, so much so that some weeks I spend more on their food than my own :-/

I think people now try to make them as personal as possible, fitting them in with them and their wedding theme.

Thanks girls. I'm just having a coloured theme of White and teal. The cd sounds like a lovely idea the oy problem is me and h2b are both Christians and our families are non believers and some of our favourite songs wouldn't be too pleasing for them.
