Could you find a jeweller to make it in white gold?

I'm sure you'd be able to get it made for you bespoke in white gold. What carat is your engagement ring? My H2B got me an 18ct white gold engagement ring, and when we were shopping for wedding rings, I was told that that would also have to be 18ct as 9ct is a lot harder and would damage my engagement ring - I assume the same might go for silver?

Are you intending on wearing your engagement ring with your wedding ring? If so i think its best to get them in the same material, I was thinking of getting a different metal for my wedding ring and they advised me not to as the harder one would wear away the white gold and you would have to keep getting it recovered as it makes it go yellow

However, if you're planning on wearing it without your engagement ring - I don't see anything wrong with a silver wedding ring at all! x

I'm sure you could show the design to someone else, as long as she's not got copyright or anything?

You could at least have something similar, like they do with dresses, just one tiny change and it's not her design any more!
I'm getting a bit worried now as mine is a totally different material and I was going to wear them together, but then I do have small fingers so it probably wouldn't look right anyway!

I just looked on the internet and found a q&a on an expert website - they say its ok but the silver might wear down
but might be worth asking another jeweller

just be careful in case one ring rubs and damages the other ring as the hardness level will be different. If you go to an independent jeweller tho many of them can copy your design into the metal that you would prefer :)

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo
    start weight 10st 1.5 lbs
    weight now 8st 4.5 lbs
total loss to date: 24.5 lbs now need to maintain!

    Hi Rosie

If you have a clear photo of the ring it will be possible to copy it in any other metal. We, and other jewellers that offer a bespoke service, would be able to repropduce it in gold, platinum or palladium.

Silver is not normally used for wedding rings because it is relatively soft and light compared with other precious metals. It is also easy to dent or mark and goes out of shape easier than gold, palladium or platinum. Having said that all jewellery metals will scratch or scuff if they come into contact with a harder metal such as keys or money.

Apart from the physical characteristics there's no reason you can't wear a silver wedding ring.

    Hope that helps.

My wedding ring is silver (as is h2b's). Ours are made of recycled sterling silver coins, I don't see what's wrong in having silver, if that's the ring you want then go for it!
