Was it hard to make your own pocket folds MrsD? I'm thinking pocket folds might be a good idea for ours now - originally wanted all the inserts tied up into a little bundle but the idea of pocket folds are growing on me, just to make it neater x

When I first made my draft copies I thought it was going to be a nightmare but to be honest with you there not to bad. I've got plenty of time on my hands so I'm doing it bit by bit which makes it easier, eg I did an hour the other day just cutting and folding the main fold part, then another day I spent an hour cutting folding and sticking in the pocket part and so on. so far I've completed 12 whole pocket folds + inserts but I have another 12 in progress (I ran out of double sided sticky tape lol). I don't think it's something I could sit down and have them all done in a matter of hours but I'm enjoying doing them little by little x

How have you made them? Did you follow an online tutorial or anything? I wouldn't know where to start I don't think! x

Hi Flossie, the easiest way I have found to make my templates is to start from the envelope size you are using and work back using measurements. the pocket I'm thinking of having is a flat pocket (no gusset) so will just be straight folds like Mrs Ds. they are simple if you have a craft knife, scorer and pencil and ruler :)
Mrs D, I was thinking of having a thicker outer card and thinner inner.. confused now but I haven't done a proper mock up. where did you get the card from?

To be honest the card weight was an accident I just ordered off the bay didn't even think about the thickness of the card just the colour lol so I was a little concerned when I received the black card as it feels really thin but it's working well as it is com much easier to fold. Flossie I am using an A4 size piece of card, I have scored and folded at 8.7cm (the outer flap) and again at 19.7cm (creating a 11cm center piece and a 10cm inside fold which will hold the pocket). I have made the pocket separate cutting a 7x12cm piece of card and scoring and folding at 1cm in on both sides and the bottom creating flaps to stick the pocket on with. My main page boarder I have cut a 10x20cm piece of silver card and stuck this to the center page with a 0.5cm gap all around and the inserts are all cut out of the silver card and measure 9.5cm in width and are 20cm, 18cm and 16cm in length. I'm sorry if that makes no sense at all to you but I will add some photo's to my DIY album in a second to show you what I mean x

The card I was looking at ordering is 280gsm whatever the hell that means haha. It is also pearlescent. For our template we looked online til I found an example of the style I wanted but it was either too big ( each column was a4 or too small so we altered it to make it so the middle column is a5 and right one is a5 and the left pointy bit is about 2/3 of a5 and the size is perfect for us. I can't wait to make them. And also thinking of having ivory card on the right as they will be inserts and the centre column will have the invite itself in ivory paper. Does this sound about right? Our card will be a3 so we can get 1 pocketfold cut out of each x

We are looking at getting just the one suitcase. I was thinking favours but tbh for what I'm thinking of having we'll likely put them on the table places for people and we are having a sweet table so too much to go in the suitcase. Have looked on p1nterest but mainly said for cards or favours. Not sure if there is anything else. ( don't want for cake as that needs space x

I got some wooden hangers and some bendable wire I've gone for aluminium as it won't rust and is cheaper than silver lol, and have written out the words I'm doing ( bride, and my moh, bridesmaids and flowergirls names and if I have enough wire them motb too) and am going to bend the wire to make them and then make hole in the hanger and glue them in, just waiting on the pliers from my mum so I can crack on :) x
CommentAuthorEmily17
Sorry yo be dumb. But the wire between the wood (horizontal bit) will be shaped to the name?

need some advice on the invitations. Will be using a stamp on the front to say wedding invitation and evening invitation but do you think black or purple ink? Also I need help with the inserts. Do I print on card and stick on the right side and then make a rsvp card and accommodation details and stick on the left or do I do a paper insert like a book and leave out the rsvp card and accommodation details
CommentAuthorEmily17
they are lovely

STD's look fab
I think id personally go with black ink, when I was going to do my own invites I was going to print the wedding details on a bit of card and stick in then include the inserts in a slightly smaller size and the rsvp, I was going to be using a pocket fold so that's where I would of put the inserts but you can just have them inside loose xx

I quite like the 1 line font as its plain and simple but everyone else likes the other font :/
CommentAuthorBolton2Be
Just contacted someone who makes cards and for them to do the inserts of my day and evening invites will be £52. Worked out to be about 78p each. Don't know if it worth me doing them and messing them up or if it will be best to just spend extra money on them
CommentAuthorSarah D
I like the second font too
I was going to be doing our own invites but Ive opted to have the whole thing made now they weren't to expensive and look the part and I don't have any stress or mistakes to correct
really upto yourself can always have a go because once you have the template should be straight forward xx

It was either gumtree or preloved i cant remember now, i'd seen loads on ebay as well though, but these came with metal rather than wooden stands, and I could only find wooden elsewhere :)

MrsC2bee, could you get some ivy and wrap it around the legs and top to sort of disguise them. You could put a few flowers or ribbon in your wedding colour in between to match it all in. X
CommentAuthorMrsC2bee
Oooo will look up pics of how the ivy on it and will attempt it see what it looks like. I think once the photoframe made up should help. Just shame I can't pick cheap small one up from somewhere. Might pop to some car boots before making one lol x

I think it looks ok, wrap some lights around it maybe, xx
