Had our menu tasting last night- and really liked all of it!!
However the menu tasting was the first time our parents met- and they seemed to get on! Had a lovely meal then a lovely drink in the bar. We've been together three and a half years and I can't believe I was so worried about it.
Back to the food...
We've chosen- quartet of melon for starter (the mini fish/chips was nice but heavy, the salad gorgeous but Pidge hates salad, whereas the melon was light and refreshing- just right for a summer wedding) Dessert will be strawberry shortbread (could have eaten two or three of these! Again light and refreshing. The men enjoyed the cheese, but we think its a minority thing, and while the lemon tart was nice the pastry was a bit soggy).
The main though... its a fight between the beef and the lamb. Both pieces of meet where lovely, we are probably going to go for the beef, but preferred the pesto mash we had with the lamb to the mustard mash with the beef, so we want to see if they can do the pesto mash with the beef.
Also tried the wines- we had to chose a red and a white. I chose the white, Pidge chose the red! The white was slightly more expensive bottle (£1 more!!) but a lot nicer.
So all in all a good evening!

We've been trying to arrange the meet up for months! It was just one thing after another. They do live a couple of hundred miles apart.
PS- my mother liked our church and photo location as well (apart from the graffitti wall!!!)
