So originally we chose our theme as purple but since then my dad and his wife chose it for their recent wedding. Now I feel that I don't really want it. Should we still use it or go for something different to what we planned? We are getting married next year

have you already started to buy things in purple? can they be changed? you have to do what makes you happy so if you feel unhappy with the colours then i think id change :)

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

I think that you have answered your own question there. You say that you now 'really don't want it' so I wonder if what is really stopping your changing is that you have had this colour in your head for a long time and the change now seems daunting.
Take a deep breath; perhaps make some collages of images, one using the purple you originally wanted and others using colours that you perhaps hadn't considered previously. Take some time to mull the decision over and then go with your heart, not your head.

It's you and your partner's day, enjoy it and enjoy planning it. You have time to make your decision yet.

Thankfully LauraM we haven't bought anything but purple is my favourite colour so not sure why they'd chose that colour. I had it all invisaged with purple flowers, shoes, garter etc... I am now thinking of maybe red or something like that. I agree with you Danielle just seems hard to think of plans in another colour now because we have been planning for a while now

Could you not go for a different shade of purple and maybe add a second colour in too? xxx

Best thing to do is make a collage of the red and purple together like a theme board that way you will be able to see if the do go and if it is suitable to you :) x

Purple is my favorite colour too... I didn't choose it for our theme though... I'm in love with Tiffany so started out wanting Tiffany blue... which turned into a jade green when I started buying ribbon in shades to match. It looks stunning... How about going for Indigo or a lavendar or lilac colour? They're close but not purple.

Also, how about a main colour that you can accent with purple like an emerald or forest green?

i feel the same as dannielle, if you don't really want it anymore, just have a think and im sure the colours /theme that will make you happiest will come to you, or maybe if you still like the purple, maybe do like some girls have to all different shades of purple

I think an emerald green and amythest purple wedding sounds lush. Very regal. Or how about dark purple lilac and hints of pastel pink xx

I feel if you don't want it then you should change it. However if you've already purchased things in that colour you could add accent colours.

You have plenty of time before your wedding to change the colours if you want to. We didnt buy anything colour wise for ours until 12 months before.
