Just keep hearing different traditions on whether the groom should face the altar as the bridal party walks down the aisle. I know it's a British tradition as Prince William didn't watch as Kate walked down the aisle but a lot of the civil weddings I have been too the groom stands and watches his bride walk towards him.
What are your thoughts on this tradition?
CommentAuthorPrincess2be
i think its nice when the groom turns around and looks at the bride. It almost seems rude not to!!
CommentAuthormrsV2013
i think that would be the grooms choice. if he wants to watch i don't think he'll be happy if you tell him to keep his eyes forward. put the question to him and let him choose xx

Superstition states that it's bad luck for the groom to watch the bride, however it's just another superstition that we will be taking no part in. I'll need h2b to look at me to steady my nerves!
Id be disappointed if he didnt look at me on my big entrance :( sod superstition!

I agree with MrsV2013, is it something the two of you have discussed? Find out what he wants and also if either of you are superstitious or anything like that. If your not then by all means let him stare away!! He'll have waited long enough to see how stunning you'll look so! Just put it to him and take it from there. Do YOU want him watching you walk down??

It's up to him what he does, I think he'll probably want to look at me coming down the aisle though as he'll know I need the support or he'll want to do something to get the waterworks going.

My groom asked the vicar for permission when I walked in, he said yes, so then he turned around and watched me walking up the aisle - I had no idea as I was beaming at all our guests on the way up!
CommentAuthorEmilyA32
He said he wants to face the front but I'd want something to focus on especially having 50 people staring at me when I walk in the room.. Be nice to look at his face so I can see his reaction else I'd probably cry haha He'd probably turn around anyway as he's very nosey!

I must admit I've asked my H2b not to watch me walking down the aisle as my first hubby did and look where that ended lol No on a serious note I don't want to tempt fate so I've told him the best come to those who wait so when I get to the alter he can turn to me then with gob wide open x x

I am not sure why I thought that, maybe seen it on TV. We haven't spoken to registar yet so I could be wrong.

We got married at Gretna, with the anvil - so we had to face the guests to get married, whilst the minister had his back to them (well he was sideways to them really). As my husband was already there, he could see me walking down the aisle but tbh I didn't notice as I was too busy smiling at all the guests lol.

Oooh i didn't even think about this, i guess i would like my OH to look but i'm a wee bit superstitious so now i'm like eek!! haha!! xx
CommentAuthorGlitterfairy
I've not really thought about it and ever realised there were superstitions over it. Part of me would not mind him turning round and looking but another part of me would like him to stay facing the front until I got there. Not sure on it really.

Im not sure what my h2b would do but i have been teasing him about my dress saying it is a coloured dress as he wanted me to wear white so i think he will look to see what colour im wearing lol, im not bothered either way really but i think if i look at him and hes not looking at me i would be a bit dissapointed, but think i will be looking at the guests as others have said xx

When we got married I had told him that the groom doesn't turn round however at the venue I came down a really grand staircase into the hall and the registrar actually told him he had to watch as it would be wrong for him to miss it as it is so beautiful and such a big part of my entrance. She then told me that she'd told him to look as well and it was great as when I came down I just focussed in on him and knew he was a part of that moment xx
CommentAuthorValentinaK
I'm superstitious, and the last thing I want is him staring at me when 120 other people will be! Its totally personal preference. I think its a tradition tied in with the veil thing...not seeing the bride til you are pronounced husband and wife!
And we lived happily ever after!
CommentAuthorElinor Claire
My brother watched his wife, and I imagine my H2B will do the same.
