My BM dresses arrived yesterday from the lovely Bay of E... They are TOTALLY gorgeous.. BUT.. they need taking in less that 1/4 of an inch... under the arms AS THEY ARE STRAPLESS.
The rest of the dress is totally perfect... Should i risk doing it on the sewing machine.. or taking it to be done properly.. only thing is the dresses only cost £29.99 and im not paying lots of money to have them taken in when it is less than half an inch!!
what do you reckon?

ring around some dress makers and find out how much they charge first, my friend paid £25 and they had to pretty much change the whole dress, it was too big, too long, they changed the straps lol x

if you feel confident enough to do it yourself, then go for it! :)

Personally id be too scared to do it myself lol so i would take it to be done at a professionals.....even if it costs a little more then your willing to pay (i have 4 so id pay something like £10-15 each maybe) youve still saved because of the bargain price you brought them for :-)
EDIT Just looked in your albums and i love it hunni, and your fg dress is gorgeous is that from the bay too??

Hails.. no its not from Bay of E.. its from a group off FB.... Ill send you the link on FB... :)
I have also just had a thought.. well the H2B did really but i like to take the credit lol what if i buy some of those clear straps that you have on a bra... attach them to the dress instead of altering them???
CommentAuthorsarahwasabride
that would prob be a cheaper option thats a good idea from h2b lol x

Hmmm.... as its only less than quarter of an inch.. its a great idea.. but then id have to try to figure out how to do the little loops where the straps attach too... The dresses only cost £30 each and i have been quoted £26 each to alter them!
anyone have any ideas on how to do this ?

Becky...
its not the length its the boob bit thats a quarter of inch too big.. they feel like they are gonna fall down.. so it needs a nip and tuck under the armpits xx
CommentAuthormummybez
did you know Trish that some local dry cleaners do alterations too and not overly expensive if it's just a matter of under the arms. People like johnsons do x

I think it would be pretty easy to nip them in. If you don't cut the material and just sew it to the right size first then if you do make a mistake you can always unpick it and start again.

I would be to scared, i would ring around places and see how much they would charge.
