Hi everyone, so am hoping to book the venue this evening when the lady I need to speak to gets to work at 5pm! We are planning to book for October / November this year and is only going to be a small wedding - 35ish for the day and only 60ish for the evening!

My question is do you think I should make STD cards or not? We were wondering if we could just tell people the date, and maybe send invites out a bit sooner - brought all the bits to make those today which is exciting!

    Opinions please?????

    Thanks ladies
    Xxxxxx

I have already designed my invites and got everything to make them with! Just wondering whether I need to make STD cards as they are just another expense and I have never been sent one for a wedding before? Xx

Are yoy geting married on a bank holiday, weekday or busy season? People like them if they have a long way in advance or its peak time and hotels will fill up in advance. If its just a normal weekend, im not sure id bother with the date being reasonably close. You could always send your invites out earlier to give people time? Im doing save the dates in april so a year in advance. Were getting married on a sunday so means people might want notice to take the Monday off. Xx

you dont reallyu have to if you dont want to, when were you thinking of sending the invites out? As logn as you give people enough notice, i really dont think you have to, unless you're having it midweek, then id say yes, and send them asap.

If youre worried about the cost you could text/email? They can be inexpensive though, mine are just going to be the cost of a few sheets of white card

We are getting married on a Saturday in October (12th) or November (2nd or 9th), so don't really think it is necessary as isn't really prime holiday season or anything! We were thinking of just telling people and/or texting them!

Velcro - I wasn't really sure when to send invites out I thought maybe in July (so about 4 months before) - what do you think, too soon or not soon enough?????

I'd say its upto you. I'm planning on save the dates, but only as our wedding is the Saturday after Easter Monday, prime holiday time. I'm doing a simple luggage label with a stamp saying save the date. However, a text, facebook invite, or email could suffice?

We only had 18 guests but we still sent STD's. We got married in August in Gretna though, so people had to book hotels, transport etc. Even with a wedding in October/November though, people will still have to plan and probably book time off work so they will probably be useful.

If you don't fancy making them - or if you fancy something different to just cards - vistaprint do some good ones. We ordered ours with them and bought larger magnets so people could put them on their fridges (no excuses to forget either lol).

I don't think you need save the dates hun. And when you send the invites out would depend on how soon your venue needs you final numbers. Ours is 2 months before, so we will be sending them out 5ish months before hand xxx

I think its a good idea to let people know that you've set the date, but doesn't have to be save the dates. We just told people/phoned/emailed.
