well me n h2b went into town the other day to pick our rings n order h2bs suit..............

we went into a jewellers after much hunting and found the perfect rings....... i only have little hands size h! n h2b has big hands so they said we'll have to order them in .....quite standard and easy to sort....you'd think!!!
the girls who were in there couldnt put an order in as they were both trainees and the manager had foned in sick!!! so the answer we got was you'll have to come bk another day theres nothing we can do! lol

but fine so off we went to look for a suit.....found the perfect 1 in a suit store to buy (we was gonna hire)
went to discuss this with the shop owner only too be trated like a pair of 16yr olds on the rob!!! how bloomin rude!!!!

didnt take us seriously at all asking questions such as well can you actually afford to buy today or are you just wasting my time..... and well how old are you???!!!!! or are you sure this is for your wedding and not for court!!! how blooomin rude!!!! grrrrrrrr

cant believe he thought it was ok 2 treat us this way ....h2b is 27 altho im only 23 and yes i do have a baby face but even still, i think he'd of took a team of monkeys more seriously....worst thing is we loved the suit n cnt find it elsewhere ,im not goin bk tho just outta principle!!! lol any1 else had the same problem,

ive had it with florists n bridal shops 2!!!! they think am goin in for a giggle or something. x x x

bridal shop have been the worst 4 me.......cuz i do look quite young ive had comments such as.... we dont stock prom gowns here''
and ''i just would like to make you aware that we dont have payment plans here''

so frustrating.........we have been quite lucky in that we saved before we started planning so the money is there whenever i need it so to hear things like this when weve worked so hard to be able to just say right we'll have it is so annoying. x

I wouldnt have anyone speak to me like that! 23 isnt that young to be getting married huni and so what if you have a baby face, it is none of his damn business how old you are when you get married or what your reasons are behind it!

As for your dress, why dont you go and try some dresses on? Go with your mum and see if it is really what you like. (i am sure it will look lovely on you) Dont be put off by some jumped up twits you deserve to have fun planning so go for it xxx

We have exactly the same problem, we've had a couple of venues look at us strangely as well, probably because of our age (we're 19 and 20) people actually speak to my mum instead of me, even though i'm the bride. When i went dress shopping they seemed to think the dresses were unsuitable for me because it turned out they assumed i was looking for a prom dress! lol. they just ignored everything i had said when i'd booked to try on dresses and assumed, based on their own prejudice, that i was a silly teenager who had booked the wrong shop. Yes we are young but we are still paying customers! grr

Not only that but in agreement with totallylovedup, when they did eventually help me with wedding dresses they told me i was too short and too skinny. I don't know how they think that will help the sell me a dress! they told me that they could do a structured bodice to give me some boobs! (tbf i'm rather flat chested, but everyone knows that!) if i had massive boobs on my wedding day i think it would confuse h2b! i thought they were supposed to find a dress that suits you, not try to make you into their ideal so they can make you fit a dress! :(

But i did go to an amazing dress shop who, had listened to me, treated me like a princess and went out their way to find something to suit me, what a wonderful day, i was just sad i couldn't afford the dress i loved :(

In the end because i have had the situation i did in the bridal shop - (i tried to try dresses on and they wouldnt let me, they told me i would need appointments and they were fully booked for 3 months! ) I went to another shop and bought my dress from there, i refused to give the other shop the time of day, because of this also i have bought all my accessorise from elsewhere too!

if you want to try dresses on tell them you are in a position to pay cash there and then if you find the right dress. when they say you need an appointment look around you is there anyone else there? no? so tell them your time is precious and if they wont accomodate you now you cant guarantee you will ever be back.

this will turn the pressure onto the attendant not you! try on ones up to a max of £100 more than your budget so as not to disappoint yourself with affordability.

once you found the dress dont speak too highly of it in front of them, act like its JUST a dress! then leave!

now you know what size you need, what styles suit your body etc.

now look for it elsewhere for cheaper!

i am about to log onto my computer so will load pics of my dress as promised and will create a thread about finding a dress as i seem to be reading alot of problems regarding dress hunting lately!

How dare shop staff treat people that way, do they want to actually sell
anything or just insult us?! I haven't started dress shopping yet but god help anyone who dares look down on me or suggest I can't afford anything.

We got my engagement ring from HSamuel in Yeovil. On the day we ordered it the assistant was lovely and very helpful, but the manager we had to deal with when we picked it up was rough as an old dog. She was complaining about her back and leg hurting and then looked confused when we said we had a ring to collect, it's not on the system she said....it was, she wasn't looking in the right place. She made what should have a wonderful moment rather depressing. Stupid old mare!

i phoned a dress shop by me and asked how many i can have with me as i wanted my mum, nan, and 2 bms. she said why was i bringing my bms as they would have no impact over my dress and who was more important them or my mum and nan. she told me to come in with them choose two dresses and then bring my sis and best friend!.
I said ok and then she said when do you want an appointment for? I told her i would have to speak to my mum and get back to her. by this point she was practically shouting at me and said why did i need to ask my mum? I told her my mum was a nurse and had different rotas and i didnt know when she would be off. I was fuming!!!!
I then told her i was looking to spend about 4k on a dress but as she was so rude i would be taking my money elsewhere lol ( bit long sorry)

it's very off putting when you have a bad experience in a shop i've been lucky in my search apart from one shop where the lady was too preoccupied dressing the window to pay me any attention but then the dresses were not so nice and very overpriced. The shop i got my dress from even though i have now brought it home (can be arsed to drive 30+miles everytime for it) has offered to dress me on the day just to contact her and let her know........now that's good cuctomer service

I have had some bad experience as well when I got engaged I decided that I wanted to get the dress out of the way and at the time it was like 22 months before wedding, and I have been treated so bad as I decided instead of phoning all of the shops I was interested in to pop in to book an appointment, one of them barely let me in the shop first asking when was the wedding then when I told her she said its too far ahead and refused to book an appointment said I had to contact them in 6 months time over the phone to book, unbelievable

Dreadful service! I would take my business elsewhere! When I first was looking around for dresses with my BMS we went in a shop where the woman automatically presumed I was mother of the bride even though I was only late 30s! She thought my eldest daughter was the bride to be! Then she started going on about my weight and how I would need a size 24 dress, I told her I had started a diet. She said it would still be best to order a size 24 (automatically presuming my diet would fail!!!!) I turned around and told her I was only looking for BMS dresses that day and when one of my daughters said her dresses were very expensive (in earshot of the owner) I turned to her and said in a very haughty voice 'Dont worry darling, you know with this wedding money is NO object!'. The look on the owners face was so funny, she immediately came over and started fussing over us and telling me to go and have a look at the bridal gowns and that they could be ordered in any size! Needless to say we left and didnt go back there again!

There is no excuse for bad customer service and I refuse to tolerate it; if anyone spoke to me as some of you have been spoken to, I would tell them directly that their attitude is appalling, would follow up with a written complaint, and I would also review their shop on the internet or in the local paper, outlining my experience; I would not contemplate buying anything from them for one second.

I think it's disgraceful that they think they can behave like that; thankfully I've not ever had any really bad experiences, and I've shopped in places like Jimmy Choo and Gina looking like an utter tramp lol. That said, one of the venues we saw annoyed me with a couple of comments about having sparkling wine instead of champagne; it may have been innocent enough, but if I've just told you I want a champagne toast, that means I want a champagne toast, NOT a sparkling wine one, and to suggest a lower-grade choice IMO insinuates that they think you're on a budget; while I wouldn't say money is no object, because it is, we're not doing this particularly cheaply: all-in it'll be around £12k exc things like the honeymoon and wedding rings.

I just really really don't get why places do this; bad training or prejudice maybe, who knows?..

I went to a cloths shop one day and the girl that served me was, i wouldn't say rude to me but just gave me the impression she had somewhere elce better she would like to be. As I left the till I said to my friend whilst standing close to the girl who served me, 'if I was like that at my work, i would get a serious telling off'.
If when I start looking for my dress, and I get treated like that, I wouold ust turn to my mum straight away, and say 'come on, lets take are money somewhere elce'

I think customer service has gone downhill a lot. When shopping I've noticed more and more sales staff looking bored, no service with a smile to be seen, and when it comes to wedding stuff don't get me started.

Some dress places I went to the staff were so snooty and stuck up I never went back (not to say that they are all like that there were 2 stores whose staff were really lovely (although they were privately run).

And my first choice for flowers ended up my last after she was so awful about my original flower choice and wanted to charge over £250 for a bridal bouquet of lilies - needless to say I changed my mind on lilies and picked roses instead (which has turned out to be the better choice) and to top it off its gonna cost less than £250 for ALL my flowers.

My tiara (done a thread about) finally got sorted and the girl who was apparently meant to be dealing with my order got sacked for incompetence. But then when you're asking for something immediately you expect them to order it straight away, not have a snobby voice telling you that "they only order them in 10/12 week before the wedding".

The jewellers on the other hand have been great - both are private but very popular places and they have bent backwards to do what we want. I've already got my ring, they ordered it straight away and we've just ordered h2b's ring although we initially paid a deposit when we saw it and they said "although traditionally they wait until nearer the time, the customer is always right and they'll get it in for us straight away."

Word of advice when wedding shopping - shop around, complain if staff are rude in any way and basically go somewhere else for your goods.

mrspearson2be- i totally understand. i am 23 and when i talk about the wedding i get the feeling that shop people dont belive me. i look younger aswell! luckily h2b is 37 and normally does the talking!

Not wedding related but yesterday we were in pizza hut me, h2b and his 2 girls! the service was awful we got seated and then waited ages for our order to be taken. kids fee meal wasnt explained well at all. 3 ladies came in and waited 10 mins to be seated. they then went and asked a waitrise to be seated and she said hang on so they still waited and then walked out. another family 3 kids and parents were waiting 15 mins to be served and then walked out. on the way out they said this to a waitrise and she didnt even seem to care. another party of 3 waited about 15-20 mins to have their order taken aswell!

it was just stupid. they had plenty of staff and it was quiet but they just seemed to be standing around talking or walking about and not paying any attention to their customers. so much so that h2b made a complaint on their website which he never does!

just goes to show how bad customer servcie has got now! xx

i think half of the problem is that the employers just dont motivate or train their staff well. they get paid peanuts and get treated badly and it shows in their customer service. Cant blame them in a way but be dam*ed if i am going to put up with it and when i complain it is always about the management, unless generally they have good customer service and one sales person is the exception!

yea it does! i have to be polite at all times in my job aswell otherwise i would lose my job!

i get the impression that just because i am 23 people think i am too young to get married. even my sister tells me i am too young! people dont realise that we have been together over 2 years and have known each other 4 years in total! xx
