Maybe it's a little stereotypical to say, but since I've moved up north from the south, I've not really encountered a single rude shop assistant, or receptionist, or anyone else customer facing. In fact it took me a while to get used to them smiling and chatting to me!! Down south you were lucky if most would look at you, let alone crack a smile.... Obviously there are exceptions to every rule, but the overall difference is enough for me to notice it quite significantly....

I would write to manager and say you were annoyed with teh service you had in their shop!!!

Some shop assitants you also feel you should get out of the shop and that by buying there clothes they are doing you a favour. It really annoying me when I use to work in Boots we could never just point to where something was we also had to go over with them and help customers because they are effectly paying our wages!! It doesnt seem to work like that any more.

I've had the same - there's one shop in particular and the lady is so rude that I refuse to go there now - typical as it's a really nice shop but the lady is so rude and her customer service skills need a huge improvement!

Shame really as they must be missing out on loads of custom as a few people I know dont go to this shop now... Their loss really.

Bad customer service yesterday in Morrisons cafe. Ordered 2 sausage sandwiches (not both for me I hasten to add, was with H2B!) and took 45 minutes to arrive!!!! 45 minutes for two poxy sandwiches that were eaten in about 2 minutes flat. Bad.

I'm appalled at that! I'm a sales assistant and I wouldn't dream of talking to a customer like that.
Well, there are the odd customers that make me want to rip out my own brain and throw it at them, but I would never be rude to their face. And I especially wouldn't be needlessly rude to a customer who just wants some assistance. At the end of the day, they're here to buy something from us and support our business. Great service means they'll come back again.

I'm lucky that I haven't had any poor customer service when wedding shopping. Well, except for this boutique one of my BMs and I went to in Southend. We went to have a look at bridesmaid dresses (since I had already chosen my dress) and they rope me in to try on loads of bridal gowns. When we pointed out that we came from bridesmaid dresses, the woman flat out refused to let my BM try anything on purely on the basis that I hadn't bought my wedding dress yet and I couldn't possibly think of exploring BM dresses until I have bought my bridal gown so that I can co-ordinate.

Considering the cheapest of their gowns that actually suited my body type was £750, you could see what angle they were going with there! But we didn't want to waste an hour round trip and my BM really wanted to see me try on some gowns (since my dress is online and she won't see me wear it until it arrives) so I went ahead with some dresses.

Their treatment of me was great (to the point it did seem a little phony- especially when they all flocked to me when I tried on the first gown to tell me how amazing I look- I'm not a dog, but I'm not stupid! Haha), but I was not impressed with how they dismissed my bridesmaid.

That's awful! I had it in a few bridal shops where they've stared at my engagement ring to make sure i'm going to get married but apart from that I've had no trouble! If I were you (bear in mind that i'm hot headed!) I'd say, FYI, we are getting married, on this date, and you obviously don't want our custom so we're going elsewhere... and by the way, the way you've treated us is terrible... your manager will be hearing from me to complain! I'd love to see the look on their faces!

i had it with one bridal shop the only dress that made me cry out of the 20+ shops ive been to i said ill be bac with deposit soon, anyway we was passin a few days later and i asked if i could make another appointment to go bac and try it on again to make sure but also with my hair and make up done so i could get a real pic of what it would look like and the b**** turned round and said what so you just want to play dress up, i was sooooooooooooo mad.

i said no i dont i wanna buy a dress and i wanna make sure ite the right one and looks nice with my hair and face done so i want an appointment. she made me one but there was NO WAY i was goin bac there after that the rude old battle axe she was also the owner and alot of ppl complain and say the same about her.

i went bac in not long ago to see if they still had the dress (was gunna try order it from somewhere else) and i told another woman (which was her sister) about her and she said never i said yerh she was rude and lost over £1000+ of me just for the dress that was without veil tiara skirt and i would have got suits from there too which would have worked out at £75 per suit for 6 huge loss to her :@ x

I've been in 4 dress shops, and only had a satisfactory (and that's pushing it) experience from one. Before I start I will say that I am 21, h2b is 20... we look our ages and while we may not wear our Sunday best while browsing the shops, we also don't look like we've crawled out of a bin.

The first one was shortly after we'd gotten engaged, we were walking around the city and spotted a bridal gallery, so h2b suggested I go in and have a look around etc, maybe book an appointment to try on some if I liked the look of any... and the second we got in there, the woman didn't want to know! I asked her if it would be possible to book an appointment, and which designers she stocked....she asked when we were getting married, huffed about us not actually having a specific date yet and then (while pointedly looking the both of us up and down) told us that her dresses were 'quite expensive'. We just wanted to look dammit! She was busy with a customer, but wouldn't even talk to us when the lady was in the changing rooms dressing... she clearly just didn't want to know! Needless to say I haven't been in there again and never will, she and her precious dresses can go fly a kite as far I care!

The second one was nice, they were happy to let me look at the dresses but I wasn't allowed to try any on - they were expecting a woman in to have her dress fitted and prefer you to make an appointment etc... bit better than the last time but still when you're trying to find a dress, trying them on would be a plus! We left wiser on what we were apparently doing wrong, but none the wiser about wedding dresses!

The third one, I learned from my mistakes and made sure to book an appointment. When me, my MOH and my nana (First time sans H2b!) and when we arrived - no trace of my appointment! I was told grudgingly that I had time to try on one dress if I really wanted to, and even though I had expected to try on more than one dress, I was not leaving until I had tried on at least one dress! I tried one on, it was a Pronovias one...pretty, but as I expected, not THE ONE. They gave me the name of the dress and a card with some info and that was that... we left, still quite disappointed!

The fourth and final one I just happened across a shop in Birmingham that looked promising, I was on a shopping trip (not exactly dressed to the nines) with my h2b and our housemate and told them to busy themselves elsewhere while I had a look. First appearances, lovely... lots of dresses, well-marked sizes, clearly and reasonably priced (on that day, I had taken enough that I could have bought anything in the shop should I have chosen to!) and the shop assistant comes over instantly to help. It always seems to be when they start talking that it goes wrong! She asked me a few questions... when is the wedding? What are you looking to spend? etc... then the long-awaited, magical 'If there's anything you like, you can try it on' but she then ruined it by adding 'But you can only try on the one and you'll have to put a minimum £20 deposit on it before you try it on, we don't let people just *try them on* people don't want to buy a dress that's already been worn.' At which point, I stared at her in shock for a few minutes before turning round and walking right back out. Done some research since, and not heard of anyone else being asked to put a deposit on a dress before trying it on so not sure if it was my age, the way I was dressed or just a shop assistant being difficult.

I've had it to here with dress shops now, can't be doing with the extreme rudeness! Got one final excursion planned for next month, and if it ends the same, I'm buying online and to hell with the shops... I too have worked in retail and would be ashamed of myself if I ever treated a customer like I have been treated! I had better service when I was looking for my prom dress than I have had in any bridal store so far, which considering the money they expect you to spend on a bridal gown and that most of these shops rely on sales to stay in business... they are evidently doing it WRONG!

They are astounding, aren't they!? I'm a size 8-10 and the one I tried on was too big... they just never get anything right lol.

It wouldn't be so bad except unless you live the kind of life that requires you to wear ballgowns or evening gowns on a regular basis, it's really hard to choose a dress if you have no idea where to start.. I know what jeans I like, I know what tops I like... dresses..NO!
The last time I was looking for a ballgown I was 17, my body and tastes have changed since then. I would not set foot in a dress shop unless I had to, but I'm too indecisive to order online without knowing what I am looking for! :)

And i get this feeling that, thats how the shop assistants see me, plus some have been really pushy following me around & asking if im going to buy it today or not.
