I'm planning my own hen too. I know what I want so I'd rather plan it myself then that way I know it's done and it will be something I want to do. I don't want to stress whether my bms having sorted anything. I'm thinking spa day then meal and drinks in the evening.

I quite fancy the idea of a murder mystery night and party afterwards. My sister is sorting it all out, so have kind of told her what I would like to do. Probably not everybody's cup of tea, but I do amateur dramatics in my spare time and thought this could be fun!!

My MOH will be organising mine but she knows me so well I'm not worried. I want a nice relaxing spa day and maybe a meal at night (don't drink so party doesn't suit me)
I've booked a big house in Newcastle for me and 9 other people for two nights. Then my MOH and bridesmaids will organise what we actually do when we're there xx
CommentAuthorMrs M Wade
Sam- how much was it to stay in the house at Newcastle if you don't mind me asking? X

I organised my own as my MOH's were both really busy and my other bridesmaids were not really ready to take that on. I ended up with a wine and cheese tasting session which was really effective and everyone enjoyed it. There was a buffet meal as well as the taste samples, and a quiz in teams to provide a bit of extra fun.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I've decided that I want a weekend at Centre Parcs. I've never been and always wanted to go. I will be doing that about 3 weeks before the wedding and then the weekend before the wedding I am having another hen night and going into town for a meal and cocktails.

Centre Parcs is going to be too expensive and a lot of people can't be away for 3 nights so that's off the cards. Been speaking to a hens party organiser and one idea is cocktail making 12-2. This includes party games, a few cocktails and shots and food. Then 6-8pm Spanish tapas evening. £60 pp. After that we do our own thing like go to some more bars. Accommodation can be included for a bit extra. Spending the day with one of my BMs tomorrow so will go over a few ideas and then get the ball rolling :)

Exactly Flossie. I just want to get it booked now. It does sound like fun. Also if it rains it won't matter as we will be inside. I love tapas so when he mentioned that I was like oh yeah lol. I don't know if I'll bother with accommodation as we all live in Bristol so would be cheaper to get taxis home but I'll ask all the girls first as it may be useful for somewhere to go and chill before we have the tapas evening xx

That sounds great Katie! hope you can get booked up soon!
I brought up the subject of my hen a few weeks ago, Ive found the perfect house to rent and found exactly what I would like to do for my hen nearby, 2 of the girls were so offended by this and said its all to be a surprise why are you such a control freak! this really annoyed me! I didn't think it was a crime to suggest places or even have an input in my own hen! My other Bm was so understanding and she said why shouldn't you have an input! so at the moment im pretty annoyed about the whole thing and fell like I cant talk to them without having my head bitten off, am I wrong in saying that I should have an input? xx

Not at all Sarah, some brides like it to be a surprise and others like to be involved. It doesn't mean that you're a control freak at all. My sister has already mentioned ideas to me so even though she's organising it isn't keeping her plans a secret from me. There is no right or wrong way to do it at all (same as the wedding itself)
Not sure how long you'll have the house for but could you maybe play the one day and then let them plan the rest of it? Or say I would really love to do xxx can you please try to fit that into your plans?

Nope, not wrong at all!
As you know I handed over the planning to my bridesmaids which majorly backfired and caused me a lot of stress worrying about what they were going to plan. The place we have booked was somewhere that was my suggestion and they were all happy with it. I think it's unfair of them to bite your head off - it's YOUR hen, of course you're allowed an input! xx

Thanks Emily, I know deep down there is nothing wrong with my input, but they way they made me feel I felt like saying don't bother with a hen at all! I did say to them it was only a suggestion and the house is such a good price, I want to keep control of the cost too as I don't want anyone feeling like they cant go or have to struggle to go so this was a perfect option! Not saying I need to know all they things to do over the weekend but I would like some input xx

You could always do something small Steph - maybe just go out for a couple of drinks? That way everyone can pay for themselves (though I'd expect them to anyway whatever you were doing), and means you don't have to personally spend a lot. xx

I've always wanted to go to Liverpool and do The Beatles tour. Each to their own, but I am sure after several drinks in me, that would be fun, but I'd be worrying too much beforehand so better that I think it will low key.
The only clue my sister has given me is to "wrap up warm...." Cryptic.

I've seen a chocolate making workshop that looks amazing. It's a half day thing, but I think it would be really good to do, and would suit lots of my female friends. I'm not one for going out on the town and drinking, so this would be right up my street too. Then maybe go for a nice meal afterwards to finish off the evening.
Either that or the "secret" room at *******Ch○((yw○((yd○○d@h in Brighton. That looks amazing.

Me and the groom are having a Hag do. We're going to battlefield live in the afternoon (a bit like laser tag for grown ups, you get full camo gear and are dropped off in the middle of acres of land and have to find the 'enemy' - the other team - and have various missions/combat scenarios. It's awesome) and it's going to be Bride Vs Groom. In the evening we're going to Manchester for pub crawls - the plan is that we'll split into our respective groups to go round with but we'll all meet up every fourth pub or so.

Faye that sounds ace.
I am having 2 hen's, one is in June which is quite far from our wedding but my MOH lives in NZ she is back then and not back to the day before the wedding so doing one that weekend. We are off to Dublin for the weekend, I have no idea what we are doing lol. The second one I am having in Oct, I am having it at my dad's house as he has a hot tub and we are going to have a hot tub party, this one is mainly family and close friends. xx

Gutted! I just walked past a sweet shop and saw a sign outside for a mad hatters tea party. Went in to ask for details thinking it would be tea and sweets but no. Its a kids party where they cook kids party food and you can buy sweets after if you want :( gutted! I love sweets and tea!

I'm sure we could. It gave me thie idea of hiring out the tea shop. Its a little independent shop that only sells tea. you can take your own food in there but they sell over 100 types and it is so lovely! Problem is for the people who don't like tea....
