Going to our venue today to see the lady who does the decoration like chair covers, swags, centerpieces cos it's all included in our package price. Then straight after we have a meeting with the wedding coordinator there too!

Hello strangers! I haven't been on here for a while as our planning came to a bit of a standstill for a few months due to my grandmother becoming very sick. Unfortunately it's not looking like she'll be able to attend the wedding as she's now in a nursing home. I'm devastated. On a happier note, I now have a full time job so it means we can more than afford to pay the wedding off! (I was panicking for a while about how we were going to afford it!)

We're currently in the process of making our invitations and hoping to send them out in April at some point..I'm STILL looking for a wedding dress too! At this rate I'm going to have to buy off the peg I think but there's still time to order one apparently if I find one this week! It's just been difficult finding time as my mum has been with my grandma every day since Christmas and I really want her there to help me choose a dress.

We had a meeting at the church last week which was very exciting! We met some other couples getting married in September, and had a tour of the church and could chat with the vicar, the organist, members of the choir etc. It made it seem so real!

I've booked someone to do make up, so just need to find someone to do hair and book a hog roast and caterer and we're done! We've chosen bridesmaid dresses so ordering them in May, and I think we have out engagement shoot with out photographer around May time aswell :-) We've also chosen all our hymns,music and first dance, so now just looking at readings, and we finally have a finished guest list :-)

My diet is going well, I've lost a stone since Christmas and now down to a 10/12 rather than 12/14..another 9lb and I'm at my target weight!

So all in all I suppose I have done some stuff, it just doesn't feel like it compared to some of you guys! It will all come together in the end though!

5 months 2 weeks and 6 days to go! Woohoo! X x x

Yes get them paid! Exciting! We got a letter with the new church fees and it's gone up about £13, although there is no verger to pay now which was £20, so we have actually saved £7. It's costing us about £660 in total. We don't have to pay until the wedding day but I'd rather get it paid sooner x

Hi, I collected my bridesmaids dresses on sat, have all my stationery ready for invites & have order thank you cards for bridal party. We are decorating this week as h2b has a rare week off so once my house is back to normal again I'll make a start on the invites. Although my fil2b is being a bit awkward about h2b's aunts & uncle's addresses (they've a massive family) he thinks that we shouldn't send invites to some because they might not go. I told him that I don't care if they don't go but they all need to be invited! I duno what his logic is but the last thing I want to do is cause rows because someone didn't get invited! I wish he'd just give me all the addresses.

What presents ideas do you have for the male members of the bridal party & h2b? I haven't a clue what to buy him.

No sign of my bridesmaid dresses that were supposed to be delivered yesterday, checked tracking, apparently on hold for some reason in the Netherlands. I've sent a email to ups to ask why, if they don't get bk to me by Monday I'll be ringing too, not on when I paid for 3-5 days and it's now been 7 working days!

I'm back! Long story short were still getting married!
But these are the changes----
Just my sister as bm
No best man
No big reception
Small hog roast garden party
And the holiday we booked will now be our honeymoon!
Yaayy feel like a weight was lifted
Just need to tell my adult bms that I can no longer have them as BMs and need to remake invitations but I don't mind :D

I'm soooo annoyed! We have a rule of no strangers at the wedding and this includes distant family, our view is that if they were important to us we'd have seen them in the last 7 years. So h2b's parents come round tonight and say they bumped into h2b's dad's 2 brothers (actually his uncles but he was brought us by his gran so thought they were brothers for a long time). So I've never met them ever in the last 7 years but apparently they asked about the wedding!! Cheeky f*ckers! So then FMIL is all 'well si's dad doesn't have any family coming to the wedding'. That's cos I've never fecking met any of them!!! She said this is a great time to meet them! Erm no! I do not want to have strangers at my bloody wedding!! We've ended up saying they can come to the evening do which just winds me up cos it means we have to bump friends that we do know for strangers I don't! So 2 'brothers' and their wives and a 'sister'.

5 less friends coming! So wound up

I'd have stood my ground too, definitely!

Aw god that sounds like a bit of a hassle! Where are they coming from? I've ordered mine from the US but I've not paid the customs charges up front. Tbh I don't know how that would even work. Customs charges are made up of two elements, import tax and the vat you would have paid if you'd got them in this country. The import tax depends on the value the seller has declared on the customs label. Bridesmaid dresses incur import tax at 12% and they also add the shipping and insurance costs before working out the 12% import duty - unless the dresses have been declared at £135 or less in which case there is not duty to pay, just the 20% vat of the total inc shipping and insurance. If the value has been declared at more than £135 then the 12% import duty is worked out on the total of goods, shipping and insurance, this is then added to the cost of the goods, shipping and insurance and 20% vat is applied - bit cheeky really cos they're charging vat on another tax!! The import duty is paid to HMRC so unless your seller holds the customs fees on your behalf then makes the payment to HMRC for you I don't see how it can work?

Dealt with lots of imports and exports at work and never once heard of a seller paying the customs fees for you.

I asked my seller what they declare the value at so I could work mine out, they declare $30 per dress with $80 shipping so I will pay 20% vat on $140, approx £17.50 at current FX rates

I'd ask your seller how HMRC receive their payment

Yeh I paid it upfront,it was £34 for customs charge and delivery charge, didn't wanna be stung with a customs charge like I had with my invites from America (which was a £60 bill) so paid all upfront x

Invites have arrived!!! The lady forgot the envelopes though but said she was posting out today. A lady at work that has beautiful handwriting is gonna write them for me

Had my first dress fitting yesterday doesn't really need much doing to it now, I've put enough weight back on so that's good lol
