I get married in November but I wanted to send my invitation's out by the end of June at the latest.
I have a lot of people travelling from across the country to my wedding so they need all the details to book hotels, travel etc and I didn't want to leave it late as cost's will rise!
Well h2b has told me he think's its a bit soon to send them and I should wait till after his cousins wedding which is in August and then send them out!
I wanted my RSVP date to be 5th September at the latest, 2 months before my wedding.
Am I doing this all wrong???

Definitely send them out, I'm in the same position as you I have almost half of my guest list traveling from various part of the country so I'll be sending mine out in the new year with an RSVP of May the 1st as our venue wants final numbers by June. (I thought I'd give an earlier RSVP because of the amount of people struggling to get their RSVP's back ).
The problem is if you take H2B's advice it doesn't give many people the oppertunity to book time off work etc and also if they've booked holidays and stuff (unless you've sent out Save the dates) but even so it's a bit close to call

i would of send them out already as i find for my opinion 5month already quite short sometimes they got to check if they actually can take time of work etc... as i probably will have some problems too as my family comes from abroad and h2b all the way from somerset...

I've been told you should send invites out 8 weeks before the wedding, sounds waaaaaaaaaaaay to late to me, I'll be doing it 4 months before the wedding with a RSVP date 8 weeks before the wedding. Well thats what I'm thinking at the moment..... If we get any no's it gives us chance to invite someone else instead. We are sending out STD's soon tho, just 'cos your wedding is on the Saturday of the Queens diamond jubilee and don't want people booknig holidays!

id dend them in june and 2 mths with an rsvp as that means you can chase people or invite people off the b list... i had someone rsvp last week... 3 weeks before the wedding!!!!! so defo send them out earlier that means people can sort their lives out and you can chase people 2 mths before without worrying :D

I think my banqueting meeting with the venue will be End of August but I don't think they'd need final number's then otherwise I'd bring the R.S.V.P forward to August lol I just like to be very organised!!

I get married in Sept and sent mine the other month with a rsvp of this month. It meant that we knew who was coming/not coming so we still had time to invite others if we had declines and gave us time to chase up if anyone didn't reply. Now we have them all back we can send out the evening invites and again if we have some decline then we can invite some others.

not really..best to be organised and people can put it on their calenders straight away so if anything comes up after they can say bog off i got a wedding to go to!

I don't think its too early at all. No one said anything about our dates being early. If they had it would have been look the venue needs to know numbers to bill us etc and order in the food requirements. You need to know what you are budgeting for so the sooner you know the numbers the better.

that sounds right to me,i sent mine end of feb and av give untill the mid of june to rsvp as i need to meet with venue at the end of june to give finall numbers.this way they av a couple of weeks for the late replys[which bound to get.lol.] and so far iv got 80% of my rsvp s back.xx

The thing is, if I send them next month and give August as the R.S.V.P date that's only 2 months for people to respond. I have put Monday 5th September on the invite's so I may just stick with that. It will be a little later than the venue meeting but I can just call and confirm numbers and I still have time to invite new people if I have to. So June isn't too early after all! Good :-D

I think all of my guest's should be pretty good with replying but if not I'm quite happy to go round arse kicking. I think I might even hand deliver as many of them as possible and get them to fill out the rsvp's infront of me lol x
