not yet been engaged a month so have not got any plans for the wedding yet. have been trying to find a venue so i can set a date etc.
how did you know that your particular venue was perfect for you? i have always dreamt of having a wedding in the uk but my mind keeps wondering about getting married abroad. i have not seen any venues here that i have really thought 'this is the place'.
sorry for my moan. i do really feel like i am sending myself mad! x

congratualtions on your engagement!!!
i have basically decided on my venue because of where it is (central enough for families to get to), the staff, and great places for pictures!! oh, and price had a big part too!!

Why don't you take a look at venues aborad on the internet and get visiting places near you to get a better idea of what you may and may not like :)
It's worth a try to get different feels for different places :) xx

I heard about a nice registry office, and since i dont like the one in my town thought id go there, then found the venue by searching for venues near there. I since found out i can marry my non baptised h2b in church, but that created a whole set of other probs, and so now prob sticking with the civil wedding *sob sob sob*

Make a list of your requirements for a venue- price, guest numbers, location etc. At each place you visit, grade it on each of the factors, so you can start to compare the venues.
Now a extremely happy German housewife and now a Mother!!!!
Islay Jean born 24th June in Hannover.
We looked at venue's when we first got engaged but weren't happy with any of them - a year later (and a new house later) we looked at some more, but still couldn't fine one to agree on! We ended up going back to the first venue we ever looked at and both fell in love with it.........i think because we were now able to look at it under a new perspective - we'd seen so many others to compare it too!! It's ideal for us because it's got amazing gardens and fantastic views of the coast, but if the weather's naff there's also plenty of opportunities for photos inside! The ceremony and reception room are also the ideal size for what we need, and we found their wedding coordinator to be immensely helpful - not just with what the hotel could offer but on all aspects!!
Seeing as you're not planning on having your wedding just yet, I'd advise you not to rush into anything....keep looking but don't rule out taking second looks! Write a list of what's most important to you and you'll prob find yourself adding to it as you look!
Good luck xx

thank you for all or your advise!
one minute i think to myself that i want x amount of people and i want it to be traditional etc. the next minute i think why the hell should i pay for lots of people to have a meal etc which then makes me think about going abroad (that's my selfish side coming out!).
we love our holidays and am starting to think that maybe we should put ourselves first rather than trying to scrape around saving for everyone else to have a good time!
thanks again. am hoping i soon will know what i want. doesn't help that h2b is quite laid back and usually let's me decide what i want! bless x

go out and view them in person. i looked at all my local ones on the internet, and there was a few I loved and a few i wasnt sure of. BUT, when we made appointments and went looking, the one that was my favourite on the internet turned out to be my least favourite (because we were told Manager was too busy with a lunch rush to see us, even though we had booked appointment a week in advance!) and the one that was lower down the list turned out to be the one I fell in love with!! As soon as we arrived I started smiling and got a warm feeling in my belly. The staff were lovely and so helpful and gave me a bunch of wedding magazines to take away too!
So you dont know until you go!!!
I don’t repeat gossip so listen very carefully!!
