    Hi all,

Just wanted to know if anyone is getting married, or knows anyone who has got married at Selsdon Park Hotel in Croydon and what their thoughts/reviews were?

Found it today and the pricing is VERY attractive, however on trip advisor it doesn't have the best reviews and it's made me worry a bit.

Hope someone can help! Thanks lovely ladies!

    xx

YES! My friend got married there in 2010. She had a marquee and wasn't in the main building, mainly because it was a hindu ceremony and they had to have a fire pit. What would you like to know and I can ask her anything you want x

WOW - that was quick!! Thanks!

Just want to know whether she would recommend it really. If we did get married there it wouldn't be in a marquee so if she had any views of the main house that would be amazing!! I always like to find out what other peoples experiences were if possible!!

My boss had his wedding reception here and he says it was really good - we had our Christmas Party there and it's very grand, guest rooms are well sized but could do with updating though :-)

My h2b work always uses Selsdon Park for big meetings or events and they've never had a bad experience. In fact, his boss is having her wedding there later this year! It was on our list, but unfortunately we couldn't afford it, but if we could there would have been no contest! x

Selsdon was our 2nd choice venue!

I thought it was BEAUTIFUL! The grounds are amazing, especially down the steps and towards the big tree. I liked the ceremony room too and the bedrooms we saw were lovely. The solarium (I think they called it) is perfect for post-ceremony drinks and canapes.

    Reasons we didn't go with it (and these are just my opinion, so please don't let them worry you);

    - The hotel isn't exclusive use; we went to visit on a Saturday when they had a wedding on to see the room set up and there were non-wedding guests everywhere, all looking in and milling around,
    - The main room (which is gorgeous) had a minimum of 100 day guests - we're only having 60 and the rooms they offered us for our size wedding were not as nice, and,
    - We would have had the top package (so amazing and about £105 when we went) so it would have been £10,500 just for the reception.

Take a look and keep an open mind. see if they will haggle a little!

Tinsel - thanks for your post - that's really helpful. Where did you decide to get married in the end if Selsdon was your 2nd choice?!

    Oh no! Silly sister :o(

If I was in your situation, I would have gone for Selsdon and just saved more to pay more. The big room is LOVELY. They might offer you a better deal if you are not at proper peak time.

Thanks for the lovely comment x

Yes we went to see it, and we actually booked this Saturday just gone!!! We fell in love with it and it was the only venue we saw that "wow'd" both of us!! I'm so excited! Booked for 1st November 2013!!! (and we managed to get them down on price too!) BONUS!!

How's your planning coming along for Sundridge? Not long now!!!

my friend got married there and it was stunning. She had the big room that opened onto the terrace. This is where i would love to marry but its true it is pricey. Keep looking though because i noticed yesterday they are doing last minute deals. Maybe have a word and see what they can offer x

Thanks Natasha! We've booked it all for 1st November next year - we're having the Sir Edward Heath suite which we both really loved and when we went to their Wedding Open Day, it was STUNNING seeing it all set up!! SO exciting! We got some money off for our deal so we're well chuffed!!!

    Hi guys!
I know I'm totally late to start getting involved in this conversation.. but I typed in "Selsdon Park Hotel wedding reviews" in google and this popped up!
We have booked our wedding there for September 2015 and are very excited. HOWEVER, I met someone at work who has recently left there (he was the Exec Chef!) and he has put a few questions in my mind. I'd love to know how your wedding goes Goldiepostie.. good luck with everything!
I'm super organised and have already planned quite a lot but am worried about the reviews I'm reading else where! xx

By the way Linzi; this is an old thread; try a heads up; mods do not like it when too many old threads are revived unless they are useful for other users and other users can get irritated when old threads are at the top of the forum. :)
