i took my little ones for their dress fittings on saturday. My 8 year old neice told me that her mom sold her last bridesmaid dress so they could have some extra money and that in a few years she will probably sell this one too. Am i wrong to think thats wrong? i have paid for the dress so surely if it gets sold then i should have the money or it should go to my neice?

anyway is anyone asking for the dresses back? i wasnt planning on as i would like them to keep them and get some more use out of them after the wedding. but if someone is going to sell the dresses that i have paid £120 each for and make money off them then i might ask for them back after they have grown out of them? or is that wrong? xx

I think if you have bought it them you have every right to ask for them back, you could even try and sell them together as a set. My bms are paying for their own, so they can do what they please

I think it depends...If they weren't planning on keeping them and just after making money then I'd ask for it back, I wouldn't be happy to pay that for them just to see he much they can make out if it, on the other hand though, if its a few years down the line, I don't see a problem, especially for a child as it wouldn't fit anyway, it's just if they had it with the intention of flogging it right after the wedding I wouldn't be happy with and would want it back

At 8 years old she won't get much more wear out of it as obviously she is still growing. Personally I don't like the idea of asking for the dresses back, however if you were to sell it on and then give the girls the money or buy something that they can keep and won't grow out of with it then I think that would be a better idea than letting the mum sell it on xx

I have spoken with my BM's (I have no MOH, my BM's are adults), I made stipulations that...
    1. their outfits MUST be something they would wear again
    2. I am happy to pay for PART of their outfits
    3. We ALL have to agree
    4. Dresses MUST be black
    5. Shoes MUST be red
(My reasonings for nos 4 & 5 are that these are my wedding colours & due to my back problems the "FUN" photos won't be "lifting of the bride etc, instead they would be us 3 showing off our bright shoes)

I told them from the outset that I couldn't afford to buy both of their outfits, & due to their own financial situations combined with my own, I also can't ask them to fork out for it all themselves either. I have however stated that I will buy either their dresses OR their shoes, & that they will have an accessory of my choosing as a gift from me to them.

As it happens, I bought their dresses off the bay for £5.49 each BRAND NEW & bought them an alice band each. The only thing they have asked is that we add a bit of colour o the dresses to break the black up a little, we are doing this with a peice of red ribbon round their waists & adding a pretty clip to it. One of my BM's is a single mum, theres no way I can expect her to pay for an outfit she would never wear again, at the same time if the roles were reversed, I wouldn't be able to pay for an outfit for someone elses wedding unless it was something i would wear again.

Personally, I think, that if you have bought them, you should EITHER
    1. consider them GIFTS for the BM's to do what they like with them forever
    OR
    2. have them back straight away after the wedding
