There is no way I could ever part with my dress. I can understand why some girls do but its just not something I could.
CommentAuthorFaeth
I don't know if I would part with "the one" yet, but I voted yes because I'm sure I'm not the only bride who has a "spare" dress to sell, as I changed my mind.

I really hope that I'd never have to sell my dress - I'm far to sentimental - you should see some of the stuff i've saved over the years!! It's one reason why I don't want to spend a lot on my dress when in reality it's just going to live in the loft!
CommentAuthorkrazykitty
i dont like my original dress so am gona sell mine if i find THE ONE!! but for the actual dress i dont think i could as i would love to be able to pass it down to my daughter (if i have one) as i would have loved to have been able to have the option of my mums!!

My mum is shelling out a fortune to help me have my dream dress - i don't want to part with it!
Plus i always had it in my head that the style I chose being so elegant and romantic might be something i could pass down to my daughter if she wanted it xxx

CommentAuthorUKBride (Boss Man)
You will be able to sell free of charge only after you have got married (this will help control non legit brides and keep bridal shops out). It should all be built within a few weeks (max)!
hmm not sure if I will sell mine or not. My Mum kept her dress and made my christening outift out of it. And i really like that idea and would want to do the same.
I don’t repeat gossip so listen very carefully!!

CommentAuthorFaeth
I kinda understand the reasons behind not allowing you to sell until after your wedding, but two questions come to mind on this - 1. what stops someone putting in a false wedding date, and 2. it's kind of a shame for those brides like myself who have a dress to sell because we changed our minds, and we won't be able to use this to sell our dress to raise funds towards the wedding if we have to wait until afterwards....

Hi Faeth -
I kinda understand the reasons behind not allowing you to sell until after your wedding, but two questions come to mind on this - 1. what stops someone putting in a false wedding date,
Nothing, you can change the date, you are obviously familiar with the site. But Newbies and Shop Owners more than likely wouldn't know this. As a Power User you will have either paid, or earned your points naturally so we want to look after you anyway! Its the potentially sneaky advertisers who may try to fool our members that they are REAL brides and we are trying to protect our members from them. We will run an advert for all of our members dresses underneath the blue 'UKbride Supermarket' advert on the forum and display, loyalty points, etc, so you can make an informed decision if you feel it's a genuine members dress.
and 2. it's kind of a shame for those brides like myself who have a dress to sell because we changed our minds, and we won't be able to use this to sell our dress to raise funds towards the wedding if we have to wait until afterwards....
Changing the date of your wedding ducky darling will get you round this!, We don't have a problem with that. Just trying to protect our community xxx
Hehe well I know I can change the date of my wedding to get around it, but I kinda like my lil countdown to be vaguely accurate - and I'll have people commenting with "ooo not long to go now" or "ooo you're already married!" and I'll be all like "nah, it's just so I can sell my dress :-(".
Part of the reason I paid for power user was for the ticker ;)

I love my dress and cant wait to order and wear it but i have no where to store it after we get married so yeah i would be happy to sell it.
I wont be happy about selling it and i migh cry taking to the place to send but i will be strong and do it.
I do like the idea though. As the money will go towards or honeymoon
Cant wait to to marry Martyn
Wishes the wedding would come faster

Tha's why my dream dress is a two-piece so I can keep the top and wear it again! You could hire out your dress so that it is useful to other brides who have a low budget.

my H2B doesnt understand why I dont want to sell my dress after the wedding and just assumed that I would be selling it - when he said that I was MORTIFIED! I had never dreamed of selling my wedding dress - yes I could 100% do with the money as I'll never wear the dress again (well maybe when im home alone!! hehe)
But I wouldnt be able to sell it! that would upset me!
is soooo happy and lucky
CommentAuthorkateh3
i wouldnt want to sell my dress but can it not be for selling wedding things in general iv bought 100 chair bows that i would want to sell afterwards im sure they would help other ppl on here amongst all the rest of the things weve all been buying? so why is it just wedding dress?
CommentAuthorCarole5817
think its great idea but could you really part with the dress of your dreams??
Looking 4ward to being Mrs Greaves, proud to call him mine x
CommentAuthorRhiannonollie
I think Kateh3 is right! women buy things all the time for their weddings that they will never use again! Centre pieces, chair covers etc. And a lot of the time people are searching for those exact things on this site and it would be wonderful for fellow brides to be able to help each other out.
