H2B and I are getting married in Vegas in December (11/12/13 - woop).

We haven't told anybody yet, and ideally want to keep it a secret.

However, we want to have a reception/party when we get back home, but can't work out how to invite people without giving the game away, and we think it might be a bit too hectic to send invites when we get home and only give people a few days notice.

    HELP?! all ideas welcome xxx

    ohhh thats exciting.
Could you not say your having a party and invite people that way, then shock them all when they realise?

You could send out invitations saying your having an anniversary party.

My friend told everyone they were holding a fancy dress party, so everyone turned up in fancy dress only to find out it was a wedding!

Yeah, I think because of the time of year it is, that I'd say it was some sort of 'festive celebration'.

PS - great choice - Vegas rocks! ;) Let me know if you have any specific questions about getting married out there. Both lala and I got married there!

Just a thought - you need to make it sound super exciting as personally(and I don't know how true this will be for your guests) I would make every effort to go to a wedding reception, whereas a Christmas party would be less of a priority xx

I'd go with festive celebration with a big announcement... they'll think your pregnant probably! Hahaha... also... had one mate just get married in vegas...had the time of her life... she was still in her wedding dress parting at 0930 the next day! Got another getting married there in April too! You'll have a ball!

Hmmm I'm not sure, a lot of people will have other priorities around that time of year ESP if they don't know that yours is gonna be a wedding reception and I think you'll struggle to get everyone there and afterwards when word gets around you're probably gonna have some very disappointed people xxxx

Thanks everyone. I think you're definitely right about people maybe not making it a priority if they think it's just a frivilous xmas bash.

As much as i would love the reception to be as soon as we got back, we may have to look at having it in the January, and just sending the invitations as soon as we get home. Its not ideal, but is probably the more sensible option!

You could send them in Christmas cards the day you leave and ask them to RSVP by e-mail? I think this will be a hard task during the festive season though.

A lot of places such as hotels etc have really good deals for parties in January, as traditionally it's such a quiet month...the hotel we are getting married at do a special package in January for parties - its popular for people whose busiest time of year is christmastime and don't get a chance to have a works do in December, so have one after.

I know at work we book our Christmas do this time of year, so you might have problems finding somewhere to hold it, too as most venues will be fully booked with Christmas parties all weekends in December
