Hello Everyone. I have just got engaged so starting to think about the big day. I have always looked forward to the day when i can go wedding dress shopping as love the idea of trying on dresses but the cost of new dresses is quite scary so i was wondering aout a second hand dress. I dont want to buy one on line so I was wondering if anybody knew of any bridal shops that sell second hand dresses? I would be looking for shops in the areas of Kent, London, Cambridge, Hertfordshire and Essex. Would welcome any suggestions.

Why don't you look out for sample sales. You can buy the dresses the shop use as samples for a fab price. You may just need to get it dry cleaned

As Danielle said, try sample sales, you can usually get a mega deal then.

My dress is a preloved dress and it is perfect and was half the price of the same gown in another shop. I don't know any shops in that area but I used S0mething 0ld S0mething N3w in Caversham, Reading. Might be a bit far but you could always check out the website for ideas and Rochelle was brilliant. Otherwise try sample sales as the girls have said and FB seems to have a few independent sellers. X

Have you tried putting that into a search engine ?
look for outlet shops, then you also get the option of brand new dresses at discount prices. mine was basically half price and never worn. Also had so much choice x

Have you tried charity shops they always seem to have loads of wedding dresses in the north

Before buying any dress brand new or second hand, I would defo recommend going to a few shops and trying them on as u might think u like one style but until u see and feel them on u won't know what u want I thought I wanted one style but the one I have chosen completely different. Once u know what style or even what dress you won't you can start putting it into g00gle or on preloved wedding sites to find it :)

Hi and congrats
Have you thought about trying D4v1ds br1d4l at Stratford they have dresses ranging from £150 up the high price designers. On my first visit there I tried on dresses under the £350 price tag and there were lots of different styles etc x

I would add all of your local bridal shops to the book of face. The shop where I bought my dress constantly has sample sales, and the dresses are for as little as £150. Also we have a Big C charity shop locally that has an entire bridal floor, though to be honest they're anything from £100 - £500 so depends on your budget.
There's no reason you can't book appointments though, like MrsC2Bee says. If I'd not been so overwhelmed, I probably would have thought about looking for my dress online after picking it and saving my wedding fund about £700 -.- Hindsight, eh?! But that might be an option, finding a dress in a shop and then looking for it online because you'll know the style suits you and the quality of the fabrics etc. xx

I know that there is a charity shop in Cambridge that sells wedding dresses, but I can't remember which charity! Might be worth having a look on g00gl3

There is a wedding outlet shop in Bromley. Do a search for it. Tried to put link on your profile page but can't due to your privacy settings x

Most bridal stores do sample sales so keep a look out for them.
My dress was the shop sample, I was lucky to get it as it wasn't actually in a sample sale but the shop owner had just decided a couple of weeks earlier to stop stocking that designer so she offered me the sample or to order a brand new dress. Obviously I chose to have the sample saving me £500!
