May I say at first that this is purely a question, not a criticism, and not meant to cause any arguments! I saw on a thread a while ago about pointless posts for points (ironic - pointless posts to gain points hehe). It is 6 pages long so I don't want to read the whole thing! Anyway, sometimes when you search for a topic, there are quite a few of them, or even only one from months ago. I asked a question recently and was directed to search, which I did, and found one post from February. I just added to this thread. Luckily it was only a few posts long so people would read all of the posts when replying. However, there are many posts that you want to make with a similar theme, but that is relevant to you, with certain details no-one else has. Often I want to ask a specific question about my colours, or my venue, and the question is tailored to that, so I've started a new thread.
My query, anyway, is that sometimes if you search, a thread will be pulled up with maybe 20 responses. I know other people often just read the first couple of replies then scoot down to the bottom to reply, as its very time consuming to read through everyone's. How can we make it so that we don't start repeated threads (which people apparently hate), but make sure that when adding to an old thread, people read our question as the one being asked? I find it quite rude to take over someone else's thread!!
Thank you, Rosi xx

We cant
And to be perfectly honest i couldnt care less whether a topic has been covered once or a thousand times - its important to you so i wont be telling you to waste time searching for one :-)

Thanks Goff I was a little confused (I'm NOT complaining about the moderator's decision!) because I searched a couple of possible topics and only one came up, one post about what I wanted, but mine was deemed a repeat, however there are hundreds about where to get dresses on ebay, or how much things cost etc. and they weren't repeats? xxxx
CommentAuthorGoff
if its a repeat, and we know its a repeat - we dont have to read it - simples.
It will fall off to the bottom once the question has been answered, and i dont see a problem with that :-)

See Goff I like that attitude lol :D (which is why you're not scary)
Like I know some people dont like multiple threads on say ebay/china dresses but everyone will have a different approach even if the question is similar, and like possum said it seems rude to take over someone elses's thread
I think sometimes a bit more of a relaxed attitude (like yours goff) wouldnt go amiss hehe (not a dig at anyone just a thought)
I personally don't see it as a problem. Its not hurting anyone or anything, so i don't think it matters a jot whether its been done before.
We all have one thing in common - we are getting married, and with that comes dresses, flowers, venues, blah blah blah, so course there will be repeats - but the threads wont be exactly the same with exactly the same answers.
Taint a problem as far as im concerned ladies.

I'd like to hear other mods opinions too, when they're online. There seems to be a lack of continuity, and its difficult for people when one mod will delete something and another doesn't see any problem. I appreciate the hard work you all put in and I know what it is like to moderate. Continuity is difficult but its really important for people. Thank you - I'm glad this isn't an argument or anything. It really is meant as an information seeking thread. Rosi xx

I think that a lot of us are new, and have not been here for months which also means we have missed posts that may have been created a hundred times before, but not since we have joined.
and its always good to get fresh ideas!

I dont see the problem with starting new posts for things that have been brought up b4 - its easy enough not to read or comment on a post if you dnt want to :-) x

I am new to this site and if i have a question that has been asked before i joined and didnt now it has been asked then i will ask it agin. I dont see the problem to be honest. There are a few people that will have to ask the same question you cant just answer the same one and just keep adding to it as then there will be like 30 pages of answers and will take all day to read and before you go to write the answer you will have forgot the question
Cant wait to to marry Martyn
Wishes the wedding would come faster
