Wondering if any of you can help. What things do I have to do before we get married in regards to the legalities here in Scotland. We are getting married in a Salvation army church where the officers are able to marry us. Do I need to fill in forms and advise at the registry office?? xxx

best thing to do is go on a scottish site and look it up
You would have to look at the local council information website which is relevant to your area, or the area of Scotland you are planning to get married in. For example, the registrars local to me are who I spoke to first, then found out from them which area office to phone and get the marriage forms sent out from. They will only allow you to begin Notice proceedings 3 months before your wedding in Scotland, so there is little point trying to apply for anything before that point. Anyway, speak to your local registrars, and they will give you your local information. It is the same form you fill out if you are having a registrar do the ceremony, as it is if you are having a celebrant, just a different bit to fill in, and I think the pricing is different, but then, the office will have an up to date list of prices. Good luck
I'd start by asking the SA to see what they suggest, I think though you pay the SA and then it's £70 for the certificate that you need to pick up the week before the wedding.
I'm getting married by a registrar at a hotel, I need to go and take our passports and birth certificates 6-8 weeks before so they can check we are legally entitled to get married.
After 7 years and 11 months he proposed to me 18.10.13
Our son is 5 years old and our world
Getting married 15.08.15.
Life hasnt been easy but we have each other :)

Please bear in mind that the price of your licence with certs can be more than that depending which area you are getting married in. We are getting married in Highland, a community hall with a Registrar, on a Saturday. Ours came to £315 in total.
So I wouldnt add anything to your budget sheet until you've spoke to them, and found out the price for what you want, and your date.xx

I spoke to them and they said as it is a religious service it will be £30 each and £10 for the certificate. The Salvation Army will be separate from the licence xxx
