That said there is a lot of iffiness between inhabitants of the two coasts which makes a choosing one over the other ends up with some disagreements.

im with you becca (if my budget could stretch to it lol)

ok why dont we say edinburgh?? - for me from greenock - west cost, it will be around an hours drive, or 2 if i need to get the train. From ayrshire it is about an hour and a half - 2 hours, again depending on transport. (or it is from kilmarnock ,as thats where i used to stay.)
Do we have any brides coming from further south, like dumfries or stranraer?? as it will take them 2-3 hours, and im not sure if i am write as only been to aberdeen once, but it takes them about 2.30-3 hours.

If no one is coming from down south, then i guess perth is more central - will have to hope their is good rail connections, incase i need to get the train on the day

im sorry if i was wrong, ill let everyone decide were is best, I was thinking more on the like of train travel rather than car when I said about ayrshire hence it would take longer.

Why are you sorry clarabelle- wrong about what??

as for travel - depends where in ayrshire, to get to glasgow from killie, its 45 minutes. Obviously if you stay in mauchline etc, you then need to add a 20 minutes bus ride time to that, then change trains at glasgow and get to edinburgh another 50 minutes, so depending where it could take 2 hours + on public transport (not including waiting times) - sorry i cant give more specifics, but it was kilmarnock and mauchline i stayed and so only can tell about times from their.

As for stirling, get to glasgow then walk to queens st station, then the train you get can either be the quick 25 min train, or long 41 minute train. so adding in walking time, about the same time as it takes to get to edinburgh.

Obviously as i said it doesn't matter where its held their will be some who disagree or feel put out.

On a side note, i was explaining to my OH what was happening, and he said those who moan the loudest you find dont usually end up coming in the end anyway :S, males for you.Just solve everything with a shrug.

thats nt necessarily though "those who moan the loudest dont usually end up coming in the end" .sorry h2b lol

but i jsut think its fair to try and arrange a central place as possible...yes there will be travel involed for everyone but its got to be fair so that 1 or 2 people are only having to travel 45 mins and the next would have to travel 2-3 hours!! its hard !

true, as i said i would like to know where the most northern and southern bride is coming from. As i had said if someone from stranraer and someone from aberdeen is coming, the middle between the two is one of the three locations already on the first post.

    Ok here's my thoughts

None of the England meet ups have brides travelling for hours, because they have made several different ones locally to everyone, why does scotland have to be any different? It's 150 miles from Aberdeen to Glasgow, I doubt anyone in the other meet ups is contemplating travelling this far, I know Scotland is a small country but it's still a fair distance between cities. I personally think it's crazy having people travel for hours, in my opinion the only way it's gonna work is if we have a few different ones in different areas of the country.

Failing that, the only 'fair' place to make it would be Perth because it's the most central city, but I think doing it that way will mean very few people will come - I've tried to arrange it 3 times now. I personally won't be coming if it's Perth or Edinburgh, not because I'm being difficult but, like I said before, I'm trying to save money and it will be a few weeks before my wedding so can only justify going local so I can leave when the money's done - but that's my choice so I would never complain if it's not Glasgow.

Honestly, I'm just being truthful here, I doubt very much your gonna get a crowd travelling to Perth so it's central for everyone even tho that is the ideal location x

I think you have a fair point, PennyLane.

Why not have smaller gatherings in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen for those who can make it to each?

well the past couple of posts would have been my suggestion....

have 2 or 3 planned meet ups all spaced out then if you want to and can afford to go to all of the meet ups then great. If you cant stick to the one local to you x

Shall we have one person (or a few people happy to work together) volunteer to lead on each but discuss them all together on here?

Just bumping this up as I think it may have been forgotten about.

As for having 2 or 2 planned meet ups i know if we are to have one up North in Aberdeen or Inverness it would only be 3 of us meeting up and 2 out of these 3 have already met as it seems most of the scottish members are from the glasgow/edinburgh area. Not that it matters of course but I had hoped to meet a few other members from this forum. Anyhoo have spoken with Linzi recently and it looks like we will be meeting up in Aberdeen hopefully with Becca too at some point this year.
