Starting to wonder what I want out of our wedding! Plan is Jamaica with a UK reception. He could happily live without the UK bit as he doesn't have many friends or family to attend. He's now getting really stressed about saving 4 it all & wants a couple of months where we can splash. Do I just give in & say no reception? Trying to do that side as cheaply as I feel I can as it is, only bugeted £3k 4 that part!

Make a list fo people who you really want to celebrate your wedding with (close family etc). Perhaps you could all go out for dinner or something when you get back?

3k for a uk reception is quite steep imo. as you are having the extravagance in jamaica, if i were you i would hire a function room for the evening when you got home and just have a buffet and a cake 2 cut, a dj and some decoration xx

10k total 3 for UK. We live in Leicester but our families r in Cambridge and Essex so it needs to be substantial enough to warrant travelling. Would hate for ppl to travel in the winter to a couple of curly sandwiches

for my actual reception I'm spending no more than £1500 - and thats with a big buffet, overall £750 on food, £200 on room, 100 for dj and the remainder for cake and decorations 3k is a hell of alot.

I've not had quotes for anything as low as that. Most places want a fortune. Flowers & invitations need to come into it too!

I'm booking the only place that lets you do your own catering in my town as i really totally begrudge paying out for a catering company when my parents have come from a catering background, they dont do it anymore but i grew up sorting buffets out and know that what the catering complanies are charging is not what i want to pay! Lol. i am sooooo cheap! My party will come in at about 500 all in to feed 150 ish, that includes the room, that comes with a dj! x I havnt budgeted a cake into that cos H2B not sure we should bother and i am set on the cheese ones i saw some of you discussinfg a while ago! X I really like sorting buffets out tho and my family are all a big help, fellas will watch kids and we women will cook to our hearts content all day with wine and enjoy each others company! Sad i know. lol. x

He's got a new rule now, we're not allowed to talk about it till jan as that's when we can book Jamaica! He's sick of hearing ideas every day when we can't decide anything until the flights r released!!
