Hi all im having another rant sorry! but my H2B keeps moaning at me saying we need to save and cut down on our wedding but when i suggest ways to save money he disagrees.
Im pretty artistic/crafty and i seen somewhere on saving money for the thank you flowers to our mums by buying flowers from a supermarket or at a market and making the bouquets myself as i have tissue paper and celophane to wrap them in already and so it'll be a fraction of the cost that we would get charged from the florists but no he wants to go with the expensive option.

we are doing our own flowers as well but you will get better quality flowers from a flower wearhous will pop a link on your wall. I can suggest some books as well but there are loads out there.

i really like that idea. It will have the personal touch then. you can get some really nice flowers from supermarkets aswell. if he doesnt like that idea, maybe suggest flowers from some where like next or john lewis, they will be cheaper than a florist xx

I never actually thought of where id get the flowers from but was just so annoyed when he just dismissed it. Its alright at xmas time he wanted me to make his parents as well as my mums garland for their door but i cant make them their bouquets?? I know they wouldnt be florist standard but they would be pretty id make sure on that. I wouldnt venture on trying to do my flowers or the rest of them but would manage to make up a bouquet for our mums

What is his argument for the expensive option? I think it would be lovely personal touch to do it yourself, tis what I am doing. Xx

Only problem with that is getting to the supermarket as i live in the middle of no where and we only have the one car cos im currently on maternity leave and he takes the car to go off to work so if i do go get flowers once he's home he's gonna see them when i get back so its not like i can suprise him when he comes home

I have to admit I would rather get a load of flowers from the wholesalers as you will get more for your money so the bouquets you give out will be bigger and have more flowers in than if you paid £25 to a florist for what looks like supermarket flowers once you take off all the pretty cellophane.

we have the same problem, funds are very low and still got lots to pay, so we have decided that the centre pieces, which are going to be white and burgundy roses with lilies and greemry etc.. which are silk are going to double up as thank u gifts for my mum, my nan, mil2b and his nan, all the women that have put money towards the wedding, that then leaves us with 2 to keep. all in all the centre piece are costing £35 each, which i think is good as that also inculdeds the tall lily vases, all the cyrstals to fill them and the mirrors that they are going to be standing on (for the day) then i can gice the flowers part as a thank u gift win win xx

i have that issue although once my man has proposed I am hoping that Rob's mum and dad will contribute a little knowing how hard we will have to work and how difficult it will be for me and rob to do it all by ourselves. Plus my mum is helping me with my dress and that is too much to ask her really as she has very little money but she offered and has been saving like mad! We'll soon see x

I feel its a bit cheeky to even think that his family would help out finacially but when i know my family arent exaactly well off and they offered to help out and i didnt ask but his family are so stingy its like trying to get blood out of a stone and are so much better off financially

get quotes for the expensive option he wants, then show him those quotes compared to if you make them yourself, usually showing men an actual price scares them enough into going with your option :)

Have you had a look at waitrose or maybe marks and spencers? One of them do amazing bouquets at great prices, just as beautiful as a florist but cheaper and they get delivered with a box of chocs. Sorry if this has already been mentioned didn't ready the whole thread x
