We're really worried about how we're going to afford the wedding. My H2B wants to put deposits down and then pay bit by bit. But I'm really worried that we'll be stressed about money all the time that way. I think it might be better to save up and pay for the larger things ie venue, photographer, dress all at once.
How are you ladies doing it? xx

if you book now and put deposits down as long as you agree the price and sign the contracts you may be saving by geting things like venues cars and photographers as this year prices, that way you will also know how much things will cost and you then have a clear target to work to good luck xoxo
and now the next chapter

Yeah thats what I did, booked and deposited everything I wanted and tried to throw payments at it as time goes on, the problem is that you'll find you have to book things so far in advance. I also set up a little acc to squirrel a bit away, ended up with quite a bit so am buying some special gifts

also got your wedding insurance soughted soon as you start to pay deposits as it covers you for any loss due to business going out of business ect
were paying deposits then we know everythings booked and can just continuosley pay bits of as and when we have been lucky in some ways that we had had large chunks off money's come our way either through back pays or his tax bac as hes self employed and when we've had that money in chunks we've paid in full certain things off ie: our rings are bought and paid if full and are upstairs waiting,we paid photographer in full and i did have my dress paid in full but had a disaster with that got a full refund and started again so i paid that chunk off money i got refunded onto another dress but still have some left to pay on it. i do however understand what your sayin as id love to be able to pay one thing of at a time in chunks but its impossible cause u try save and end up dipping into it then before u know it u have nowt left lol, it is great been able to pay things off in one go then knowing u dont even have to think about it again untill 2/3 months before when u get down to u fittings final numbers check etc. but id defo say get ya deposits sorted especially on ya venue church and photographer cause its unbelivable how fast and far in advance they get booked up. EXAMPLES one of the venues we was intrested in was booke up when we rang to see if date was available and my h2b was shocked when it was allready booked up a yr in advance they also had booking for 2013 and this was in 2010 my photographer also has bookings for 2013 and so do a few of teh chair decoration compaines i have on my fb.x

Ooh I love my spreadsheet hun...ha! (I'm so sad!) But it's really helping me get organised and you can see when you need to pay for things and how much you're gonna need rather than pay off things bit by bit and lose track of what you're paying for. I've set it up so I know what I've paid, how much I need to pay and things I have estimated for but not yet paid.
I think I am actually a little bit in love with my spreadsheet ha!

If you are paying bit by bit before you book anything work out what you can save each month etc before the date and also allow for emergencies like car needing repairing etc etc. I would hate to see you lose all your deposits if you couldn't afford to pay everything off before the big day. I also swear by a spreadsheet to show what needs to be paid, what has been paid and what is left to pay. It really helps you to stay on track.
