We get married in 18 months time. The only thing i'm worried about is the big day happens on a Thursday (there is logic to my thinking though!!). The Thursday means it’s cheaper for us to get married in a place we both fell in love with and have a good number of guests to share our day. It's the Thursday before Easter Bank Holiday weekend, which means most of the people will be having 4 days off already with Good Friday and Easter Monday. But that being said it is still a working day, in which people will have to request annual leave off work................. so when did everyone else send out there save the dates? Especially if you are getting married on a week day. I was thinking sometime in early 2011.... Any advice would be grateful accepted x

We sent ours out about a year beforehand, we're getting married on a Sunday and obviously Monday is the start of a new working week so if people wanted/needed to book time off they had a year to do so. I'd say give it another 4 or 5 months then get them sent xxx
It's right what they say

But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

id say about a year before, as then people know way in advanced for booking time off work or when they arrange for holidays and things like that! x

Thank guys... it does help, i'm making them myself anyway (keeps my fingers busy and my mind occupied, so i'm not thinking what's in the cupboard I can eat!!!). Gives me plenty of time to make them with that work, weight lose, gym and Christmas i'm hoping time will fly by. I'm gonna get fiary lights in the post Crimbo sale to decorate my room with. x

We are making our own too, and was thinking about sending them out around April next yr time, as ours is a Friday before the bank holiday for the Jubilee thingy :D x

I think the standard is roughly a year, though in terms of etiquette it's fine to send them up to a year and a half in advance! We sent ours six months before but that's because we only got engaged about 6 months ago :P

Lol, quick engagement, love it. I would of been married next year, just have to save the pennies, as both our parents are disabled so we want to pay for everything ourselves. We just recently had our engagement party, the 7 hours flew by and it brought home to me how quick the wedding day will go. All that prep for something that will go so fast. At least it's a day that will live forever in our memories.

Oh dear! I haven't even thought about my save the dates! Are they expensive to do as I have like 70 guests at least to invite? x
CommentAuthorbexter83
Depends on what you decide on, I've really not looked into prices as I'm making mine out of clay and making them into a fridge magnet. I'm thinking of a little scroll or a butterfly, not saw what yet though. I'm going make some prototypes and I'll upload them see what everyone thinks. x

MrsV2b is that 70 guests or 70 save the date cards coz obviously u didnt need to send individual ones, families can recieve them together so that will cut the cost :) x

We made ours for a few quid (fpr the card and printer ink)

I was thinking about 18 months before because our wedding is on the saturday of an extra long bank holiday weekend (queens diamond jubilee) so I don't want people booking holidays without knowing our wedding date!
