Hi guys, I'm getting married on the 2nd May 2015, I have people coming from all over including South Africa and Holland as well as the UK, hotels need to be booked, when should we send out the Save The Date cards with hotels numbers on, ???? Help!! Lol xxx

I have ppl come from america france and indonesia so im aiming to send mine out a year before or as soon as can confirm my date with the registrar. And I have found not all places will have 2015 prices more than a year before anyway.

I wouldn't think that there is any urgency for a spring wedding. I suspect that people won't be able to book either flights or hotels until at best a year before, so I would probably say around May this year would be early enough. You could check with some of the potential hotels though, it might be that some of them will allow early bookings. If you've booked a hotel for your reception venue then they will probably allow you to book rooms now. If you're concerned that anyone might be likely to commit themselves to something on that date this far in advance, you could always tell them informally of the date, and then send the save the date anyway.

I'd send them 12-13 months before if I were you ! We're sending them 13months before because a few aunties book holidays 1 year in advance xxx

I would send them asap just so they know the date, have time to save up, go see a few hotels that are near your venue an see if you block book them for your wedding an if they will do a discount.They you recomend it to your guests in the main invite with number and tell them to quote "smith wedding" when they call to book. Thats what were doing with ours.

My cousin sent his to us a long time before his wedding. We lost it (as I don't like clutter), and forgot the date. It might be something to bear in mind, then again it might not.

I would send them as soon as you have stuff booked, even if they can't book flights straight away, at least they will know the date well in advance xxx
