    Hi Ladies,

Have just ordered our invites and awaiting our proof copy, was just wondering, when do you think I should set the RSVP date for? Our big day is 21st May 2016, was maybe thinking end of Sept/Oct this year or is that too soon? Just want to make sure numbers are confirmed so that we can make sure we are not over paying on things like food & drink etc.

I'm not even sure on when I should send them out either - suppose it depends on when I receive the final ready invites.

    Thanks xx

My date is 14th May 2016 and I am sending my invites Jan next year with a RSVP date of 14th March so I have 2 months to sort numbers and chase those that haven't replied. I would say Sept this year is too soon as people might lose the invite or forget as they have so long to wait x

That is too soon in my opinion. I would send invites out around 6 months before and the RSVP date would depend on when your venue needs final numbers by. Say your venue needs final numbers by 21st April, I would ask for RSVPs back by 21st March, then you have a month to chase anyone who hasn't responded before you need to let the venue know. x

    Thanks hun that's a good idea :)

Not sure when we need to finalise payments with the caterer yet so maybe wait and see what the final payment date will be and make sure RSVPs are before then :) cheers hun xx

I would probably say about march next year too. Of course it depends when Your final numbers are needed by but make sure you leave a couple of weeks before they're needed to chase stragglers! X

Hi CoralLeigh! I'm getting married on 21st may 2016 also! I haven't even thought about invited yet but here we usually send them
Out 6-8 weeks before and ask for an RSVP by 4 weeks before. I don't have to give final definite numbers to hotel until 3 days before wedding!!

I'm sending my invites out in Feb/March for August... our venue wants final numbers 2 months before, so our R.S.V.P's are in for 3 months before-which is one of the reasons we're sending invites out around 6 months early (possibly 5 months if they go in March) but another reason is because we're getting married in August we don't want people booking holidays.

I'd consider sending yours out in Jan or Feb (doing it 6 months before it will be just before Christmas and people may be preoccupied)

    Hi Ladies,

Thanks for the advice :) My final numbers for venue must be confirmed 1 month before but I still have to find out when caterers need final numbers.....my planner said for the caterer we're using its usually 2 months before so basis that (when confirmed) I will send invites in December with Christmas Cards then I can chase people by the Feb 2016 :) xxx

You could always send out some "Save the Dates" in the next few months. That way people will know about it, and can book holidays etc. around it. Be careful sending them at Christmas, it's a busy time for Royal Mail and things get lost! Or it might just get put aside if someone thinks it's just another Christmas card!

At the moment we are making save the dates so hopefully people will say fairly early on whether they expect to be able to come or not. Most venues we've spoken to have said they'd need final numbers a couple of weeks before the big day so I would say if you sen them out maybe just after Xmas and asked for replies at the start of April you've got a good month or so to chase :-) Enjoy! xxxx

We sent our save the dates out with Christmas cards. Saved a fortune on stamps! So def worth doing with invites. Our wedding is a Friday in April next yr so we plan to send invites in September with an RSVP of about end November so we can chase stragglers before everyone gets lost in Christmas festivities and then send a second batch to replace (that sounds terrible sorry) anyone that declines. Plus people have to choose their food from our menu beforehand so we need to make sure we have everyones orders. If you're doing this too, your caterer might need numbers etc sooner. X
