MIL is one of 4 children, the youngest 'uncle mike' i have never met in the 10 years ive been with h2b. a few years ago he moved to spain but has since moved back to uk.
since his return 2 yrs ago he hasnt made any contact with MIL but being of the 'old school' she asked us to invite him to wedding, as she sees it as an opportunity to be clannish! we carried out her wishes but have not received any form of yes or no.
i am of the opinion that after sending invites nearly 2 months ago that if they havent replied then they are not coming and have consequently have struck them off the list. would you girls do the same?
i dont want to feel like H2B has to beg for a reply and say stuff it, let someone else fill the seats.

i did the exact same thing! i invited all my cousins on my mums side and didnt get a reply from any of them despite me reminding them!
i would maybe just contact him and say because you havnt heard from him you have taken it as a no, just so he doesnt turn on unannonunced at the wedding!
i would then invite someone else in his place! its exactly what we have done! xx

I would give him the benefit, as you never know if he got the invite!!! I would say that a call is acceptable. SIL2B actually sent an invite to an uncle but the postcode was wrong, she knew it was wrong, but assumed it would get there and it didnt!

i would defo sya get in contact with him hun, as when we were waiting for our R.S.V.P's i had to chase some up as i thougt they hadnt sent them, but they had and they got lost in the post (we have a problem with our post here) so just to be on the safe side i would speak to him xx

I have to invite h2b's uncles who i have never met, they have never been spoken about and have never contacted us over the birth of my daughter. I will give them till the deadline then invite more of my friends who have been there from day one. Why do all the older people think you have to do things out of duty, if they cant be bothered to be in our lives then that is there lose.

i said to my family and rob's family that we are paying for the wedding so we are inviting who we want not who they want. If I haven't seen someone or they don't bother with me anymore then I ain't inviting them - simple as! Obviously there will eb a couple of exceptions but I am not close with half my family so why should they come to my wedding. I wasn't invited to some of my families weddings so they can shove it! lol x

we know hes received the invite as we posted a job lot to the other brother, and hes passed it along. we cant contact him as we dont have any contact details for him. As the other brother has replied i can only presume they wont be attending!

I think it is really rude not to reply if u cant come for any reason ok but not replying is honestly nt nice at all, so I would defo invite somebody else!!!

MIL didnt have a tel no. for him and was of the opinion that ringing and asking if attending was kind of forcing people to go and they should accept an invite off their own back.
problem is solved now thanks, we filled h2bs uncles & aunts places, and then received RSVP of said uncle accepting the invite! it really makes me want to scream as we now more than what we allocated for.

iv just give a time frame they have untill the end of june to rsvp or i cant guarentee they can come as i need to give the venue final numbers for food etc.xx

if the rsvp date has been and gone and they have not replied then you are totaly with in your rights to presume they have declined and to mark them off the guest list.if they get in contact closser to the date (usually happens) and say ohhh i forgot to reply all you have to say is ,that you needed numbers to confirm seating and catering by that date and its to late now

i would always give someone a call first to give them the benefit of the doubt. otherwise how can you be sure they havent replied and its got lost in the royal mail system, royal mail can hardly be called a reliable service nowadays.
why are people so rude, not to bother replying?!
