My hubby and I got our rings from a company in Hatton Gardens (they're great) but we have one problem. Hubby's ring is now too big for him, to the point that when he washes his hands and shakes them, on a couple of occasions he has shaken his ring right off! We thoguht we had the sizing right, but obviously not (maybe his hands were warm as it was summer, or something).
Anyway, we've contacted the company who have said they can re-size it, but as it's palladium (it's 6mm, bevelled edge) it could twist in the process. I guess it's a risk that they have to tell you about, but does anyone know what the possibility of this happening actually is? We paid a fair bit for the ring so we really don't want it to be ruined beyond repair, but at the same time he can't really keep wearing it as it is.
Are there any experts out there than can advise? Many thanks in advance!

We looked at getting my e-ring re-sized down a bit by a different company than who'd made it - they said that with palladium they were more worried about the risk of there being tiny bubbles inside - didn't even mention twisting... (Didn't get it done in the end anyway as it's only big when my hands are v. cold) Surely if it twists then that's a bit of an error on their end and they should fix it/replace it?
I'm sure if you dropped the "kissing" ring company an email they'd advise you? I've emailed them before & always had a reply within 24hrs :) Xx

Thanks Eco - they didn't mention bubbles! Oh grief! I'm hoping that the 'kissing company' can advise on here. I'd feel a bit bad emailing them direct as I'm not a customer...

my engagement ring is Palladium and I have just had it resized with Serendipty diamonds where it came from and there was no problems at all with it, is it because its bevelled edged that they thought it might twist or the width? Hope you get it sorted ok x

Yes, MrsC2b, it's because of the bevelled edge. I really don't know what we should do! This is what the company said: Because of the bevel edge and the fact that palladium is so hard to work with, the only way to resize the ring is to use a compression technique, then the ring has to be polished and refinished. This can be done, and we often use this technique to resize plain rings, but there is the slight chance that the metal may twist. We have been advised to let you know that this is a risk that you have to be prepared to take.
Where's the kissing company when you need ring advice LOL!
