Rant time again for me, I'm afraid, ladies!

Firstly,h2b and I went to the venue for a meeting to go through stuff about a month ago. There, I was told that the latest date that I could let them know our menu choices was July 8th for. July 30th wedding. Fine, I thought, the invitations say RSVP by the 25th June, should be plenty of time. I then get an email from the venue saying "we need your menu choices by June 13th!!" Whuh? I'm quite cross about them changing the goalposts at this stage when they'd given me another date! I mailed her straight back saying that this was unreasonable and she's calling me tomorrow, and I know if this is done by then it will be another thing ticked off the list, but grrrr!

Then, to cap it all, I get a call from my ring company saying that our rings had arrived. "great," I thought! Can't wait to see them, but I asked her to just check what mine looked like. And bingo - it's completely wrong. Wrong shaped (round) and sized diamonds, wrong setting...everything. The girl who came to the house measured the diamond in my engagement ring so that she could match the size - she said it was 1.8mm but I've measured it today and it's 2mm, so that wouldn't match anyway. I *knew* this wouldn't be that simple. Really upset about this - by the sounds of it I'm going to have to pay for the correct sized diamonds and for the ring to be remade :'( the girl at the office said that she was trying to sort it all out but I'm now v concerned that I'm not going to get what I thought I was getting, AND we paid (for us) a lot of money for these to be right!

NB this company is NOT the one who regularly posts on UK Bride.

    Rant over - sorry... :'(

Venue is an easy one - check your contract and an letters they have set you

As ffor the ring - if she measured it wrong its there problem and not yours so therefore you should not have to pay to put it right

Sorry you having problems so close to your big day, hope it all gets sorted soon. Venue will have to deal with whatever date you can give them the menu details - as they'd already told you 8th july it is unreasonable to expect it so much sooner with little warning. Hopefully you will get this sorted tomorrow though :) As for the ring - they should be sorting it out because it was them who screwed it up in the first place - can't say any more than that. Good luck :) really hoping this gets sorted for you

I had the same problem with my rings! The company I used got mine completely wrong and even engraved the wrong date on hubby's ring. Wont name names as waiting for compensation but the stress and upset they have caused has been traumatic to say the least. Last thing you need for such a special and significant item. I feel your pain :(
If you have any problem with your ring company quote the Sales of goods and service act 1982. In selling you the ring they agree to make the ring fit for purpose and for the ring to be of a reasonable quality. They are also breaking their part of the contract/receipt by providing you something contrary to what was originally agreed. Hope this helps!

Well, the Venue thing's sorted out - they've said that I can get the food choices to them by the 8th July so that's good.

Frank - really sorry to hear you've had a bad time of it as well :( it's just more additional stress that we could do without, isn't it?Our rings are still a bit of a headache though. They said that, as there had been mistakes made already they would need my engagement ring so that they could match it to my wedding ring - fair enough; not happy about sending the e ring off, but I did it. They then came back to me and said that the girl who came rouund got the weight of my e-ring wrong...she said mediumweight was right, but it's actually superheavyweight! Bit of a difference, hey? Upshot of it is that they're putting it right but I've had to pay for the cost of the material "as it's a lot heavier". Thing is, I was debating about the ring I ordered in the first place as it was a lot of money, and it's now cost me an extra £135! I just REALLY hope that they've got it right now - they should be back with me in a fortnight which doesn't leave me any time to sort it if they are wrong again :( It's too late for me to go the legal route now though I think :(
