Hi, bit of a random one but..... 16 years ago my aunt passed away and left me her wedding ring. I've not taken it of since i had it and wear it on my right hand. Do you think i can use it as a wedding ring or does that sound wrong?x

i got my mum's engagement and wedding ring when she died and i always had it on. i'm using the band as my wedding ring. i've taken them off recently so that it will be even more special when h2b puts it on my finger :)
i think it's a lovely idea, especially if it means so much to you :)

I think it's perfect. I'll be getting a plain platinum band for my wedding ring.
What you're thinking of doing is no different really to those who use engagement rings that have been passed down the family. So many girls have theirs of their H2B's grandmothers rings as e-rings. I mean even Will's and Kate used Diana's e-ring again.
I think it's lovely to have some sentimentality/meaning behind a ring. xx

Definitely use it! It's good for the environment and your purse strings, as well as having sentimental value! My engagement ring was my fiance's grandmother's, before she died. Sadly I never met her, but apparently we would have got on really well! I love that I get to have something so personal to their family!

Very lovely and memorable idea! My mom gave me my great grandmas engagement ring for my 21st bday however she'd had the diamond set into a pendant so am wearing it as my necklace and my something old for the big day :D xx

I had a dilemma like that recently, my H2B's nan wanted to give me her mums wedding ring, but its 22ct gold and i don't like gold rings. I didn't know whether to go for it until I tried it on, still not 100% on it but its the sentamentality thats important, and its also the start of a new heirloom

I think it's a lovely idea. My h2b got a ring from his mum and my mum then had them sent off to be made into one ring for me (my e ring). We're then having matching bands and i've got his nan's eternity ring. My finger's going to look like a lump of white gold and diamonds rather than flesh lol xx

nina, if you don't like yellow gold, you can have it dipped so that it's white gold. that way you're keeping the sentimental part, but also making the ring 'yours'

Kisywisy that's a really good idea, i never knew you could do that. Do you know where does it or if it's expensive? I might get my eternity ring done as that's yellow gold and all my other rings are white x

I think its a lovely idea.i wear my Grannys wedding ring on my right hand and would never be parted from it.However it is 22ct yellow gold (which personally i don't like but i love the ring despite this cos it was my Grannys) When i got engaged i really wanted my Grannys ring as a wedding ring but would have had to have a yellow gold engagement ring and i didn't like them so got platinum and have got a platinum wedding band too.I will continue to wear my Grannys ring on my right hand,it is a bit bigger than my wedding band/e-ring (i wear it on my middle finger) so if my fingers ever get fat through old age and arthritis i have a replacement on hand so to speak! xxx
